I truly do struggle to recall specifics from yesterday or sometimes earlier today, considerably so when it comes to work. I’ll be asked how work went and I usually just say “Eh, it was worky.”, because I honestly have no fucking clue. I’ve retained a rough outline of the day. About 20% of it at best. Was that yesterday? Was that today? I have to commit a lot of extra brainpower to recall conversations I had with co-workers (unless they were out of the ordinary or confrontational). I suspect it’s due to the monotony of a full-time job, but maybe I have a tumor.

Same. But ask me about an awkward encounter 15 years ago, and I’m in total recall mode 😆

      “What did you do yesterday?”

      Me: Uh…(file not found)

“Remember that awkward moment years ago?”

Me: It was the 5th of May, 76 degrees outside, and 14 birds were flying past the window…

I suspect this is a Futurama reference, but my DDG searches are failing to turn up any details.

If it’s not a reference, sorry for wasting your time. If it is, I appreciate the reference despite not recalling the details.

Yes, it is! But I don’t recall which episode. I just remember the professor used some kind of “memory ray” so he could describe it exactly for the purposes of the flashback. Best guess as to the plot was he was flashing back to working at Mom’s Friendly Robots, so hopefully that narrows it down if you’re looking for the specific episode.

Only in the pursuit of recognizing your reference.

IIRC, the Professor put the gun to his head, implying impending more drastic actions; Leela shouted something like “Professor, don’t!” and he responded “don’t what, use my memory ray to accurately recall the story?” Followed by the quote you paraphrased. I think it was in one of the episodes mentioning how he was responsible for the invention of robots.

            Thanks for confirming the reference!

I think it’s just daily routine stuff your brain can’t be bothered to remember, makes sense to me. I relate.
