That’s half the main games price… Just don’t buy it

ok ill add some other info i dont want this to sound like a mindless bashing

BUGS as of patch 2.01

  • in a quest you need to alternate between your face and another character. everytime after the switch the Start menu would be unavailable, only fix is to save and reload the game(you change clothes like 4 times in that quest and it gets bugged every time)

  • character getting ejected into the air while leaving a vehicle for no reason

  • character getting stuck into vehicles if you approach them too fast and the world freezing in solidarity

  • quest markers not getting updated

  • quests taking over your your tracked quest for no reason

  • characters sending you texts while you are talking to them

I disagree, with or without taking bugs into consideration. It was a great experience and if you liked the base game you’ll probably like the expansion too, if you didn’t like the base game then you won’t.

OK that’s your opinion. If you are poor and/or from a low income country that’s even understandable.

OTOH, 3 million people thought otherwise and bought it. Wake me up when you have made a game and an expansion for it for 3 people, let’s see how buggy those are. I will take the time to online shit-talk about those, too!

What is worth 30 dollars to you…? You said you’d have paid 15 for this, which is absurdly low in this day and age. A small expansion pack in the early 2000s would have cost more than that.

You want double the content in this DLC for 30?

I think that 20 side missions and a bit more of story would have made this more acceptable. The base game is what 60 side missions for 60 bucks? Why should you get less value from this? Most of the work was already done

What a bizarrely corporate measure of quality this is… this is how you end up with mile wide, inch deep grind fests that just ooze “value” by pure volume. I think expecting this amount of content for $15 at this point just means that you can expect no content at all, because it won’t be commercially viable to keep all your dev teams spun up to work on it, along with patches.

Ummm, since we are being critical, I’m going to say that low effort bug reports get sent to the recycle bin on my dev team. Also, what’s up with the tone of your post? You sound like you hated Cyberpunk 2077 in general and so you felt the need to scream it from the rooftops.

I’ve played Phantom Liberty now for a couple days and I’ve never seen anything you’re reporting, so you’ll need to give more detail, like are you playing this on PC or Console, and which console? What are your settings? Also lose the bad attitude man, we are all here to have fun.

At least the “character getting ejected” bug can have a direct connection with framerate issues and the corresponding settings. Most of the other stuff you’ve mentioned can be impacted by localisation, subtitle and accessibility settings.

It’s funny to see this because I have found it to be the complete opposite.

First, the amount is surprisingly copious for a DLC. The new area they added is deceptively large because it has so much verticality. The main story missions for Phantom Liberty are also much longer than normal missions. The “like 5” you quoted is ridiculous because not only is it WRONG, it discounts the size of the missions.

They also added a ton of side missions and gigs, as well as two completely new side activities in car missions and supply drops. It’s a lot of content and just saying “they only added x number of missions” is reductive and frankly deceptive.

And maybe more important than the amount of content they added, the quality of the content is off the charts. The art style and creativity in the new areas is fantastic. It doesn’t feel like just more Night City, it really feels like a different area. It’s visually distinct from the original game; you know you’re in the new area without being told.

And the missions… the main story missions are completely different than anything in the original game. Fighting through the wreckage of a downed airplane to rescue the president and then getting thrown into a spy story complete with James Bond style banter over a roulette table! Idris Elba is amazing. Even the side missions are interesting with different ways to resolve them.

If you liked CP2077, I don’t see how you could possibly not like this DLC. They added more of everything that was good about the original game and did it at a higher level than the original game.

When I think of some of the other DLC’s I’ve paid for that are basically just a few extra missions and maybe a new companion or something, it makes this seem even better.

Now just so I don’t sound like a complete fan boy, I will say they added in a bunch of new bugs making the game less stable than it was in 1.63, which is really frustrating. But everyone gets those regardless if you paid for the DLC or not. So as much as it sucks that they added those bugs, it has nothing to do with whether you think the DLC is a good value or not.

@Stillhart @sederx personally, I was really missing the “crime” aspect of the game, so the fact that there’s the ability to steal cars is a big plus for me. Can’t believe it took them this long to implement something that fun into the game.

Idk I found the story to be pretty silly and again the bad acting didn’t let me get into it. All those story missions are extremely linear.

I’m not impressed. As I said in another comment I like the base game and this is similar im not sure where you see all this in value in so little.

The car theft is not fun it’s all scripted, the drops became boring after the second one. Like really that stuff satisfies you? A loot box with some average enemy around? Idk man this is nothing for me.

Maybe if they didn’t get Idris Elba they could have sold this for 14.99? I could take him or leave him tbh,I don’t think celebrities have ever helped this game and I thought they learned their lesson.

Lol a new monthly issue of a comic can cost about $4-$6, breakfast at a cheap diner can get $10-$20, a 2 hour movie can be $20+, and of course there are $60 video games selling that are less than 20 hours long. Its really funny how undervalued videogame entertainment is.

I like “cost per hour” which is what you’re getting at.

          • Movie at the theater: $16 total.
            • $8/hr
          • drinks with friends, at 1 drink an hour for 4 hours
            • $7/hr
          • Dinner out, decent restaurant 40/person
            • 20/hr
          • Cyberpunk dlc, $30, 20 hrs to beat
            • $1.50/hr

Yeah I’d say that’s a pretty good entertainment value per hour compared to other leisurely activities for me. I apply this to most entertainment things and it does help. I find comparing things to going to the movies is the best, if it’s more per hour than a movie in a theater than no it’s probably not worth it. Those stupid $50 slingshot rides? Nah.

How do you define a role playing game?

You’re playing as a person in an alternate reality.

You have character stats and builds.

Someone else is in control of the overarching narrative (you can’t just decide to become a plumber for example).

Stat blocks don’t make an RPG.

Part of the definition is that you in fact play a role. This means making decisions from their perspective as if you were them and their world was your reality. Any game that doesn’t allow you to make informed, meaningful decisions isn’t actually a role playing game.

Naturally, video games can’t really give you total freedom in that regard, as any option you can pick needs to be anticipated and coded by the developer. But there are candidates that fit the requirement somewhat more and those that definitely don’t.

Cyberpunk, while being a fun experience, doesn’t really give you a lot of meaningful choices, at least not in the bigger quests, especially not the main plot. Most often different dialogue choices only lead to slightly different answers and the same outcome. You can’t decide to rat Panam out to Militech when stealing the tank for example. You’re not really playing the role of V, you’re watching their story play out and maybe deciding what to do first and last.

CDPR have their own inhouse example of a better RPG to compare against.

Okay, so you basically reduce the game’s content because you nullify major sections due you not liking it then claim it doesn’t exist? In the end all RPGs are based on the variations “talk to someone” with action being the second thing. I wish you don’t ever start playing Final Fantasy 14 which has like 60% of the content are cutscenes and dialogue.

I think it’s a fair criticism, not necessarily one I agree with, but the quantity of content available for the asking price certainly isn’t proportional to the base game, although it is quality content, bugs notwithstanding. I think maybe the only game that would come close to it on those terms would be Fallout: New Vegas.

I would hazard a guess that a large part of the pricetag probably isn’t just for the DLC though - It’s been three years since release and ostensibly the CP2077 dev team has been hard at work fixing the colossal fuckup the game was on launch day, and then some. There’s a lot of work that’s been put in to the systems overhaul in order to make the base game more functional and enjoyable, and I believe a lot closer to the original vision the team had before the marketing and hype (and death threats) nudged them to push out a rushed product, and all that’s getting packed in as a free update for a game that was probably underpriced at the typical $60 anchor point on release in 2020.

This sounds like mindless bashing. No matter your intentions. Maybe form a more mature title for the post as a start?

Condemning an entire DLC on the grounds of a few bugs seems a bit like jumping to conclusions, too. Perhaps play the DLC through before you bemoan it for being “sucky” and judge it on the content rather than it’s superficial flaws, which i might add are rare and far between.

You come off as someone who’s angry they had to pay 30 bucks and go into the game expecting bad things.

Let go of your intentions and your preconceptions and just go into the game to get an experience.
