Rand starts gathering men who can channel (Asha’man), and builds the black tower. The first man he brings to his cause is Mazrim Taim. Taim is a very strong channeler, and close rival to Rand (much like Demandred was).

There is a lot of friction between Rand and Taim as Rand gives him license to train men, and essentially anoints him to the male equivalent of the Amyrlin.

Friction continues, Taim starts training his hand picked guys who are loyal to him showing them stuff he doesn’t show others.

Eventually Taim is shown as a dark friend.

The whole way RJ is hinting that Taim is Demandred but he changed course

It doesn’t kill it. The only thing that does are RJs comments during interviews, which I choose to ignore. It’s like Gay Dumbledore.

The other one that was a major missed boat was the Taim/Demanded arc. Everything lead to it and RJ chickened out.

I don’t know enough about the red scare to really comment on it. McCarthyism didn’t really happen in my country as much as it did in the US.

Coopting and infiltration of labour movements were partly responsible, but more so outsourcing/global competition (as you mention) and changes in dominant economic sectors played a big role too. On top of that retirement of former union members - those that saw what the benefits of unions were first hand - also cut down union interest gave corporations more power.

What a lot of people fail to realize is that mining and other blue collar industries were traditionally very left-leaning because capitalists would take away all their rights, pay them in scrip, etc. The companies only cared about the Almighty dollar (and still do), but were way less regulated than they are now. Those regulations are the result of unions, worker uprising etc.

It’s supremely. Ironic to see workers in these industries now do an about face, because Joe Rogan told them to. An over simplification, sure, but the point remains.

This is an evolutionary strategy for them to occupy niches that other plants can’t, this giving them a competitive edge. Some other metal tolerant plants don’t hyper accumulate, and have pathways to selectively uptake what they need without poisoning themselves.

Hyper accumulators take up everything and then just store it in the vacuoles of their cells to isolate the metals.

Importantly, when the plants die, the metals are re-released, so if you’re phyroremediating you have to harvest them and then dispose of them in a landfill.

Finally, hyper accumulators can pose a risk to wildlife that might browse on them, whereas metal tolerant plants may not

The first statement implies that fascists are deserving of equal rights as everyone else. This don’t the case, though, because what they want is the destruction of other people’s rights.

Fascists don’t play by the rules, because they don’t think they apply to them or they are inconvenient. If they rules don’t apply to you then they don’t apply to you. Can’t have it both ways.

TV software is fucking abysmal. Its laggy, full of bloat and as you point out, their wifi capabilities are shit. I even have the connection/speed issue right now with one of my older TVs.
