Is that the ARVN right there in the top right? That seems really close!
I think so. The image caption said “Viet Cong meet the enemy face-to-face, most likely in the Mekong Delta or Plain of Reeds. This rare image shows both sides in combat, ARVN soldiers at the top and Viet Cong in the foreground. The VC have flanked the enemy at left and right, which likely meant the ARVN unit was wiped out. I’ve never seen a real photo (assuming it’s not staged) with both sides currently engaged in combat at such a close range before! I wonder if they were captured or just wiped out.
