I am in need of some help. I’m trying to find a good portable monitor for my steamdeck. I don’t need it to be huge, 12inches minimum, but I’m not having much luck with my own research. I would like low latency, high refresh rate, and colors as close to the same as on the og LCD deck (which is what I have).

I have the official dock, so it would need to be able to connect through that as well.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I tried one of these. cool concept, but execution was meh. Would be better with their external device thing that locks the screen in place.

Also, and YMMV, but it was the only VRish thing to make me nauseous (but not overly so) after a while due to the screen moving. I’ve flown jets in VR comfortably, but XCOM on the NReal was troublesome.

also you need a hub type thing to be able to charge the deck and use the glasses at the same time. not a big deal, but then the deck is pretty bulky

      Sorry for the belated reply.

I’ve seen those, or something like it. They would not work for me because 1) I wear glasses and 2) VR makes me motion sick. I really wish they would because the implementation is really cool.

They offer prescription inserts if my memory is correct. They are unlike VR due to the smaller display fov and open peripherals — you may still get motion sick but I can’t imagine it’s on the same scale as a VR headset IME

I ended up returning mine (and my Deck) but I still think they are a really great option for someone like you who is looking for a large yet incredibly portable display for use with the Steam Deck

I’m not trying to be a dick but I’m genuinely curious why you would want a portable monitor to use with your portable deck?

I do this for LAN parties. Easier to fly with a steam deck and portable monitor than my desktop. I’m not looking to buy a gaming laptop just for LANs.

      Sorry for the belated reply.

For the bigger screen and portability. My eyes aren’t as good as they used to be. My gaming laptop’s fans are dying, and this would be cheaper than a new laptop (sadly, it’s also showing it’s age and cannot be upgraded further). I use my deck at home 99.99% of the time so it wouldn’t be much more to setup a monitor along with it.

I got a Lepow 15.6in monitor on Amazon a good while ago. I’ve been happy with using it with my Steam Deck. It’s USB-C or HDMI. Also needs power from USB-C. I’m sure there’s a better solution, but this works for me when I’m traveling.

Man I hope you get a good answer to this because it would be game changing. Ideally USB c and with it’s own battery.
