I don’t want just to see the future, but the past as well. Would be nice to witness some unadulterated historical moments.

54·10 days agoIf you don’t plan on making a successor that plays and contains the features the userbase would expect, don’t name it like it’s a sequel.
They ruined the name of a perfectly good franchise just to attract the fanbase, nobody wins and everyone is angry.

Technology@beehaw.org•Booking.com cancelled woman's $4K hotel reservation, then offered her same rooms for $17K
18·13 days agoPersonally I use those websites to find the best price, then call the hotel to book directly with them at that price. At least the hotel gets 100% of the money, I get a rebate and better & direct service and I get to fuck those websites out of their revenue share.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they’re cutting themselves out of a potential market, while I still have ton of other games to play.

They want someone to blame for their perceived misery, and to vent their anger at others having it better than them.
It’s easier to do that instead of being introspective.

4·3 months agoCloud computing I agree, at least until we figure out homomorphic encryption.
For cloud storage it’s not as bad, as long as you control the keys and the provider doesn’t see them then you can be fairly confident the data is safe.

People usually resist change until there’s a net and obvious gain, or when thing don’t work as expected anymore.
And you need to consider that what’s important in a messaging platform for someone, might be vastly different for another.

I don’t blame Valve not wanting to deal with this.

PostmarketOS looking real good right about now.
