Maturity is recognizing that your fourteen-year-old self was important too, and that she got you here, and that you should give her some grace.
Your past self is just as important to who you are as your present self is to who you will become.

My past self had it hard, but that made me resilient. They were unwise, but I am wiser for their mistakes.
My past self was dumb and trusting and thought working hard would grant life fulfillment. My current self still thinks all this, but now also knows how to make really neat paper hats
This is something I never really resonated with. I mean there are things I wish I understood better when I was younger (or really just have future info) and I can point to a few things I did that I wish I done differently but overall I would be pretty cool with myself from any age and I think it would be reciprocal.
