Chimera is a FOSS project and therefore does not and will not take donations
Lol, what the heck is that supposed to mean?
I’m guessing they want Chimera Linux to be developed by volunteers rather than employees? They would still need at least a little funding for their website and download links though.
Idk, it’s just awkward wording, that might be what they mean, like they don’t want money for what they do as to avoid creating an expectation, though that doesn’t come across at all from the original text, so I have no idea
Failed OpenSource Software
I thought this was https://chimeraos.org/ and I’m not sure how I feel about the name clash. Especially since this project started at least two years after Chimera OS did, from what I can find.
I didn’t even know chimeraOS existed while having known about chimera Linux for years so I guess that shows you how much the name clash matters
check the FAQ on chimeraOS here: https://chimera-linux.org/docs/faq#so-why-use-a-bsd-based-userland-anyway
I really like the complete description of the OS, why they decided to use a tool instead of another. Very interesting project.
Chimera is cool, and that’s coming from someone who uses Void and Alpine and NetBSD. I’ve not run it on real hardware yet, perhaps I’ll give it a try.
Is it time for me to jump ship from Arch?
If you are willing to set it up, yes try it.
This is a very interesting project with some novel tooling. Looking forward to seeing how it develops.
Sweet. I just found out about this project a little while ago. Good luck to everyone, and congrats on your milestone!
