  • Something niche to my field (custom furniture and woodworking) is that RAISING prices can increase sales. Wealthy clientele want both a piece that is quality, but also something “worthy” of gracing their home.

A mentor of mine had beautiful, handmade pieces for 600$. He was still in his “starving artist” phase and kept slashing prices to make some money back. He had lunch with a friend who was a painter. he discussed the amount of time (30 hours) and materials that went into these pieces and they weren’t selling for even 600$. She immediately told him he was insane and to jack up prices. He told all the stores he was showcasing in to raise the prices from 600$ to 3000$. He sold ALL 10 of them in 3 months.

Pricing is a careful balance of charging what is fair, and what the client expects to pay. If you are building a dining table for a client that has $500k worth of art and paintings covering the walls, he is expecting to pay in excess of $50,000. If you quote him $10,000, hes gonna get cold feet and go to someone else charging more.

Same phenomenon in this video. Banksy selling pieces for 60$ on the street and barely sells any. His pieces usually sell for $20k

People are HIGHLY class oriented and kind of stupid. The price is not the piece but what it says. They want a piece that says “I’m rich as fuck”.

Thats so horrible what people did to bitty. When my friend’s family moved into a new place, the previous tenant just left their cat. Fortunately my friend immediately adopted her. Her name is coconuts and she’s also pretty huge. 15 pounds.

  • I had workaholic parents who expected “retirement” to finally be the time to enjoy life. So they grinded, 60 hour work weeks for decades. They made a ton of money but by the time they made it to retirement they destroyed their bodies.

My mom has extremely severe chronic hip pain and cannot sit down. Due to constantly working in an office her muscles were severely atrophied and she cannot find the motivation to get back in shape. She spends the vast majority of her time in bed, completely exhausted.

My father suffered chronic stress and once passed out at work. He struggles with high blood pressure and went partially blind. He is still working due to decisions I can’t share here.

Wow, I wonder where the chip came from. Pinto came all in one piece so has nothing like that. He got into scuffles with other cats and even racoons (hes just that big), so hes had the occasional vet visit. Nothing serious though.

Pinto is very gentle so he rarely bites. Most of the time he will push your hand away with increasing pressure until he swats at you with no claws. I’ve never pushed him further. I’d hate to find out too, hes obliterated cheap toys before with his hind legs.

  • Ive had some really bad problems with eBay and is actually why I went back to amazon.

One item was taking a long time to ship with no label made, I contacted the seller and told me that things were super busy in Japan. I gave him the benefit of a doubt and I checked in another month later, I asked him just to refund it, h but he kept delaying and eventually I just tried to go to eBay customer service. THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. There are only automated menus for you to click through for different options, and since at this point it was longer than 3 months I couldn’t do anything to get a refund, despite zero evidence of shipping being provided.

I have had to refund some stuff from amazon from time to time and a couple other issues, but those are always sorted promptly, especially after speaking to customer service. The complete lack of any human to speak to on ebay gives me zero confidence buying from there.
