it doesn’t use any common protocols or software that anyone outside of NASA would be familiar with.
Suddenly Lemmy hates Voyager because it’s not FOSS…
Certain ufologists have claimed that the story is evidence of a close encounter with extraterrestrial life.
Of course they have… 🙄
Well hopefully not. I didn’t know it had been tried before, that’s interesting.
Sometimes they just really are giving away a MASSIVE YACHT!
If they gave the response “Alexander Dumas” wouldn’t it be rejected, regardless of pronunciation, because it wasn’t in the form of a question?
I agree actually, I was only kidding because of the subject of the post.
You start correcting people when they say “your” instead of “you’re” :-)
Yeah, I’ll put my hand up and admit I haven’t read the article :-)
That said, I think someone else pointed out that just because a show or movie is labelled as a Netflix Original, doesn’t necessarily mean they made it. So the kind of licence issue I was speculating about might still apply to a bought-in property.
Devil’s Advocate here, but I wonder if that could be a choice made by the creatives or the production company - like, “we hate advertising and don’t want it shown during our show, so that’s the kind of licence we will agree to”.
I think a lot of people would applaud that sentiment of refusing to have ads in their show.
Unfortunately the result would be that for noble, purity of the art, reasons they end up accidentally screwing people in your situation.
No idea if that’s plausible, but maybe?
I guess, but for your average consumer that’s not going to be an attractive option.
Yeah, agree with all that, and something like this does have a feeling of inevitability about it.
I just feel concerned by the hero worship of this guy, it’s kind of disturbing to me.
Yeah, I know, but I feel like execs are more likely to want to go it alone and have exclusive artists than have to work out a way to share with each other.
Why don’t the Big 3 (Universal, Warner & Sony) just come together and make their own streaming service with all their music,
Careful what you wish for. It’s long been a concern of mine that we’ll see a fragmentation of the music streaming market, with the same results as in TV.
You know how one show you like is on Disney+ and one is on Netflix and two are on Amazon, and one is on Paramount and so on…? Result is you either miss shows or pay a fortune.
Imagine that with your favourite bands, except you need a Warner subscription to listen to one band, a Sony one to listen to another, etc.
It’s bad enough with some things not being on one music service while they are on another one, or with songs being there and then gone and then back again for utterly opaque reasons. If the labels get the idea that they can cut out the middle man and gate off their artists from any service but their own, it’ll be awful.
if you think political violence is bad, why are you cool with the insurance ghoul committing social murder?
Those aren’t exclusive positions though.
What the American healthcare system does to people is awful and should be changed. No question at all.
That doesn’t make it ok IMO for someone to just go out and murder someone else.
The more people normalise and even praise this sort of thing, the worse, and more dangerous, society is going to get IMO.
I realise that’s not the popular view, but there it is.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes, indeed.
And who gets to decide what’s evil and what’s not?
Of course he should be prosecuted.
Regardless of what the victim has done or was doing you can’t have a society where it’s regarded as ok to intentionally walk up to someone on the street and murder them. That way lies anarchy and madness.
Well possibly - I do follow people Mastadon though, and it still feels quiet to me. I probably need to spend more time finding people to follow.
Neither. She’s singing to her boyfriend (not husband - “forgot to mention one little thing a ring”) and listing the presents she’d like, plus IMO heavily implying sex as a reward.
