Important note about Apple:
Apple is making a living by being a gatekeeper to your data. They do not keep it private to only you, they do not keep it to themselves.
However they do not share it for free with other companies. Make no mistake: they are not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.
When they released CS1 it was in a similar state.
The difference is that nobody was paying attention to CS1 until after a couple patches were released and the game picked up momentum as it was improved and more fleshed out.

We haven’t had a new stand alone Uncharted game for…7 years.
The biggest difference is that starbucks via doesn’t start with awful coffee.
Starbucks isn’t good coffee compared to some fancy pants third wave coffee, but It’s not nescafe either.
Freeze drying and rehydrating might not do anything to hurt coffee flavor, but it’s not going to make bad coffee suddenly taste good.

Publishers will force smaller devs to move away.
I bet you Paradox Interactive has been shitting down its leg as this event unfolded. They almost exclusively publish Unity games.
Linus Torvolds and the folks at kernel.org work to continually improve the kernel and ready it for each release cycle.
Ubuntu and other distro maintainers take that work and make sure that they are shipping to you a compiled kernel(s) that dependably works with all other software on their distribution.
Maybe someone close to him has a hot glue gun.
Be the only user that can run code as root.
Microsoft and their “trusted partners” do not deserve closer access to my hardware than I have.
iOS is more private in the sense that they limit access to your data to other companies so they can continue be the doorman.

Yeah, but the truth is it’s not great for your skin.
You should use a VPN or an tracker blocker like DuckduckGo. This is the only way to slow down the information you are sending out. You might not be able to completely stop Google and Samsung from tracking you, but there’s no reason to share yourself with all other data harvesting services.
You have to obfuscate the info that makes it through by using multiple, unlinked Google accounts that let you put separate components of your life into separate silos.
