  • so I guess I have to disable my ad blocker if I want “my voice to be a part of conversation” about online ads, tracking, and online privacy? do I have to buy a car and drive it everywhere if I want “my voice to be a part of conversation” about congestion, road safety, and air pollution, too? I’m afraid to ask what I need to do if I’m concerned about children safety and I want to join that conversation.

  • Google confirmed to Android Authority that it is committed to publishing Android’s source code, so this change doesn’t mean that Android is becoming closed-source. The company will continue to publish the source code for new Android releases, so when Google releases Android 16 later this year, we’ll get the source code for the update. In addition, Google will continue to publish the source code for Android’s Linux kernel fork, as it is licensed under GPLv2, which mandates source code releases, and is separate from AOSP.

  • Can’t follow group posts only. When you follow a group/community in Lemmy you see all of the posts and replies made in that group (via automatic boosts), which can quickly clutter up your feed. I can’t find a simple way to only show new posts and not all the replies. So now I mainly browse Lemmy on its own instance page and only drop into Mastodon to make replies and upvotes.

yeah, I tried following one Lemmy community through my Mastodon account once, and it was a nightmare with all the replies made in the community boosted out of context to my feed. and that was about 2 years ago, today it would be even more unbearable.
