Where else am I supposed to perform my ablutions?
Where else am I supposed to perform my ablutions?
Damn so its gonna get even faster? My Windows install must have been more borked than I thought bc I already get performance parity at minimum. Guess I should have kept up with reformatting annually instead of biennially.
This is also called anxiety (which often goes hand in hand with ADHD to be fair)
Maybe it’s system to system, or something with the older nvidia drivers, but I’ve specifically noticed the improved performance in Expedition 33 and Jedi: Fallen Order which I think are both DX11/12?
Just switch to CachyOS and so far I’ve noticed improved performance if anything (on a 3080 10gb). The latency difference between it and Windows is just unreal.
You may have better friends than me. I’ve had people say that it’s “disrespectful” because I must be focusing more on what they said vs what they’re now saying or something stupid IDK.
I have to turn subtitles off in games or else I will get too frustrated by the voice acting and do exactly that. I had to force myself to listen to the wonderful VA work in Baldur’s Gate 3.
If someone needs to be overly organized I would be more likely to assume they are just on the ASD now, but I definitely remember people joking about OCD like you’re saying. I have AuDHD (high functioning autism and ADHD) but that wasn’t in the DSM until like 2014, so as a kid I just got the ADHD diagnosis. Now it makes so much more sense why I feel like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde sometimes. My autistic traits desire organization and cleanliness but my ADHD is good at “filtering” the mess out until it gets REALLY bad. Then I go into a cleaning frenzy ala old lady Sophie trying to clean Howl’s castle. Sadly I don’t have the grit of Sophie so I end up getting burnt out and being unable to clean anything for two months.
You might have gotten in before they added the H lol. My diagnosis in the early 90s was called just ADD. They hadn’t added the “hyperactive” part yet. The name does it a disservice though because it isn’t an attention deficit, it is in fact the exact opposite. I have too much attention - I just can’t always pick where that attention goes.
https://add.org/adhd-test/ do yourself a favor and take this. Or you could ask your primary care provider to refer you to see a therapist or a psychologist and ask them to administer an ADHD screener (Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1)). With any luck that will be enough to get you a referral to a psychiatrist who can actually prescribe medication. I was diagnosed as a child and re-diagnosed a year ago and my doctor said the fact that I responded well to medication was enough confirmation for her. Good luck!
edit If you ask doctor google, you could also be pregnant so maybe get that checked out as well! (/s)
Cannot stress this method enough especially for information heavy books. Listening while reading alo
That’s really interesting. I’ve never tried this but I imagine it would take a bit of practice to sync your reading speed with the audiobook speed, but that could just be me. One thing that has helped me in the past is trying to voice each character distinctly in my head (this is the only way I made it most of the way through Trails in the Sky) but that also slows my reading way down. Which now that I put two and two together probably has something to do with it 😅
This could also just be from ADHD burnout. Many ADHD kids make it through to adulthood by burning up 10 times the energy of our peers. By the time we do get there our reserves can be absolutely shot. I haven’t made it back to reading books yet but I have found that I can sink into new non-digital hobbies like horticulture. My guess is that it uses a mental energy well that I haven’t tapped yet, at least not completely.
Now try having both at the same time while only being diagnosed for one. What a wonderful childhood that was.
Yeah but are we trying to get people into Trek or specifically into TNG?
That was basically my thought as well, but I still say it plays well as a stand-alone story to give someone a taste of Trek. They may be confused at the beginning of the episode but I feel it’s self contained and focused enough that most people can pick up the major beats from context (Cardassians = occupiers, Bajorans = formerly occupied). And then hopefully the acting, the mystery, and the twist ending are enough to, like you said, make the viewer want to learn more.
Edit: I’m thinking of ‘Frame of Mind’, but both episodes are pretty scary.
I’m nearing 40 and ‘Schisms’ is still straight up nightmare fuel for me. Wonderful performance from Frakes.
Also “Duet” from S1 of DS9. Incredible acting.
“Carbon Creek” serves as a VERY light introduction to some core Star Trek elements. It’s far from “the best” but it’s a heartwarming little peak into the world of Trek. You even see some Vulcan’s become influenced by human compassion which is a good way of showing what makes humans special.
I plan to show my mom Carbon Creek sometime soon.
Sinners! Robosexuality is an abomination!
