  • What you mentioned is exactly why i didn’t like him. But i also don’t support the death penalty, and i firmly believe in due process. He got the death penalty without a fair trial. For me it’s as simple as that. And that’s not how democracy works in my book.

He was a conservative right wing political activist, but some people are comparing him to Mussolini even. Like WTF! And just because he didn’t believe in empathy doesn’t mean i shouldn’t either.

Fo i think the world is better without certain people? Sure! Do i think assasinating them is the way to go? No.

And yeah, i’m a gay man. I’m well aware of his views about that. I choose to be civilized though.

  • As others have said, Linux Security is a very broad topic. But the main thing is keeping your system updated, only install packages from your distro’s repositories, install a firewall and don’t install anything you don’t need should go a long way :)

For example, i use Alpine Linux as a desktop OS. This means i only install packages through apk, from the Alpine repositories. I run apk update and apk upgrade commands every friday. I use Flathub for most desktop software which i also update weekly. (To be even more secure, only install verified flatpak’s). my firewall has no incoming ports open (really not needed on my desktop). And i keep myself updated with the latest news regarding Alpine Linux, and Linux in general. So i am aware of most vulnerabilities as they are published. This is a pretty secure system.

Later on if you want even more security you can start following the CIS guidelines for your favorite distro, but the above should be a good start.

But good security is not just jeeping your system updated, it also means you have good backups in place, in case randsomware hits your system. And then there’s also the monitoring of your system for suspicious behaviour :) But these are far more advanced topics!

  • I’ve been having depressions since i was 12. I’m 44 now.

From the beginning i have been able to pinpoint the reasons for my depressions. I’ve been a caretaker of both my parents, leading to financial stress as well. In 2020 my father died, and i decided to cut back the contact with my mother, and deal with my financial problems.

I can honestly say i’m no longer depressed, and i don’t take any meds.

At first, all my days where black. Then they went to grey, and now i have a grey day every once in a while.

For me it helps that i learned to recognize the thoughts that would spiral me down the dark path. I have a playlist of music that makes me happy. I will play it whenever the need arises.

When i was depressed, even getting up in the morning was tiresome, i had no energy for anything at all. Along the way when the depression got less and less, my energy started to return as well. Noawadays i work 40 to 60 hours a day, and i love taking long walks with my dog. For me those where the moments i started to realize the depression started to go away :)
