more than just sucks; seeing it happen there as well as facebook, twitter & reddit makes it clear what .world’s intentions are.
… Even users who absolutely hate Linux and open source software should be glad that alternatives do exist, so that once the food they are being fed by Microsoft and so on doesn’t taste good anymore, they at least have an option to switch to something else entirely.
i’d like to see this message shared to the linuxsucks community on .world. lol
The Red Hat pantheon, gods tha- wtf am I writing?

i’ve been using prepaid for almost a decade now and i only buy $100 androids with the latest release and i use my voip number for everything.
i started doing the prepaid plan because i don’t always renew each month since i only need the data connection and i’m almost always at home. the $100 androids are a thing for me because i’m klutz with all personal electronics. so it’s more like i accidentally stumbled upon this form of privacy rather than seeking it out from the onset.
I think that the new(ish) conservative community on lemmy.world is the biggest proof positive of this.
It was intentional in my part; fuck los pinches gringos
I say this because the brown familiares que casaron son gringos y les merecenen que les votaran.
And I mean this; we are sliding into facism solamenta por los pendejos y ellos son las pendejos en esa situation and I’m sick and tired of being of being the future Americans who don’t understand. Coje les pendejos, nunce les voy a visitar.
It’s both on the rise and now acceptable.
My brown family that started families with other brown people talked about the facism the entire time.
My brown family that started family with white people all believe that facism isn’t a thing.
The future is not good
And the reason why the Linuxsucks community exists. Lol
over 80 percent of women and 40 percent of men are sexually assaulted at least once in their lives in my country (the united states); the rape gangs are smart enough to let individuals take the fall so as not to impact the entire group all at once.
you have to create the engagement that you want to see on lemmy and effort posts & comments on terrorism and how it applies to this situation is going to require an audience that doesn’t fit in well with any “general interest” instance like the one you’re commenting from.
lemmy was meant to be political since its inception and; in your shoes; i would take advantage of that fact to engage on this topic in one of the original political instances since its communities are already inclined to such a discourse as evidenced by the example @davel shared.
the palestine community is really active and i’m have no doubt that they would have interesting perspectives on the west’s War on Terror and earlier anti-terrorism efforts as it pertains to current events induced by the same common imperialistic hegemony that has been fucking over their lives more than it has been fucking up american lives (esp healthcare). now that our government is treating luigi with the same terrorist charge that they’ve levied against palestinian leaders; there’s a commonality that can be explored that won’t happen on a general interest instance.
other instances besides blahaj; the “general interest” ones are getting bored w luigi already.
Systemd checks point to Fedora waiting on the Win10 disk to boot (+45s!!!).
how are you booting windows from systemd?
Obviously, I don’t need that drive to run, but Fedora/Bootloader thinks it should.
systemd is not part of the bootloader.
Why did these conversations stop?
it’s still going strong in other instances; it sounds like you’re on the wrong one.
do it and expect to see divides similar to what you saw on reddit; but that’s the beauty of the fediverse.
when your community’s collective group-think becomes unpalatable to a significant portion of its members (and it will eventually since lemmy is political at its core) they’ll go off and create their own duplicate community without that toxic group-think.
that’s the beautiful thing about linux; so many way to accomplish a goal and it you can do it at any experience level.
the best part is that all of it is free and your solution is easily shareable through things like social media and source code repositories where people with more experience can improve upon your idea further. if your idea is REALLY good, it will become mainstream.
some desktop environments and window managers have built in functionality to do this through something like config files or a gui config.
the intentionally “simplified” or “streamlined” alternatives (ie gnome) requires more involvement and runs at a gradient between simple kde like config file at one extreme end, to full on source modification at the other extreme end.
if something like this was a common thing for me; i would go with an environment that makes the bells and whistles available to you as the default option, like kde.
… If companies really had to feel the cost of data breaches, I’d be willing to wager we’d suddenly see a lot more traction over good development practices.
that’s probably why downtime clauses are a thing in contracts between corporations; it sets a cap at the amount of losses a corporation can suffer and it’s always significantly less than getting slapped by the gov’t if it ever went to court.
why does there need to be an alternative? is there something wrong or inefficient with it? is it just too old?
