I personally don’t think he did it. He could easily be a grifter trying to take credit for a very popular act. There’s no shortage of those. All you’d need to do:

• Walk into a public place with a bag of somewhat incriminating items, but nothing that’s linked to the actual crime scene.
• Arouse enough suspicion to get the cops called on you. Being a white guy with black hair and a hoodie is not enough for someone to call the cops on you, I have no idea why people believe that was enough for a McD’s employee to call the cops.
• Claim credit for the shooting to the cops.
• Bonus points - Have a social media history praising similar actions.

The altoona cops then forwarded this to the NYPD, who were desperate to pin this on someone, after they messed up and let the shooter slip through their fingers. Out of the all the tips, this was the best one they’d gotten so far, so they’re running with it now.

This also explains why Luigi’s taking credit for some, but not all of the claims the police made (especially about the money he was supposedly carrying).

Nearly every societal problem has a solution, but you need a medical / buddhist / marxist / approach (probably a lot of other disciplines / lenses use this approach too, those are just some ones that more or less follow this).

• Correctly identify the actual problem.
• Find the root cause(s) of the problem.
• Name / describe the state without that problem.
• Outline the cure / steps to carry it out and reach that goal.

The only problems that aren’t solvable, are things that would break the laws of physics.

As for drugs / alcohol use, lemmygrad and hexbear have a lot of good threads on drug / alcohol use, and how to view it, and handle it collectively. The USA is probably the worst example of a country to look at for alleviating the societal ills brought about by alcohol and drug mis-use, so its good to look at how socialist countries have tackled it throughout history. If you can’t find a thread I’d recommend asking over there, because you’ll get a lot of good answers.

Most of the poverty alleviation campaigns were well underway by 2012, so I’d be interested to see what those numbers are now.

But also, China is responsible for ~3/4ths of the reduction in world poverty via these campaigns.

Not to mention that if you’ve visited any Chinese city in the past few years, you won’t see any of the slums or homeless that you see in the neoliberal countries.
