On mobile: multiple top and bottom tool/nav bars that automatically show/hide themselves when you scroll. They’re invariably more irritating than if they were just pinned at the top of the page (or perhaps viewport, but ideally page - I can scroll to the top of I want it back)

On desktop: animations tied to scrolling.

Anywhere: any kind of popup, modal, etc that I didn’t click on something to get. Please fuck alllllllll the way off.

The browser implements the text selection behaviour, but how infuriating it is depends on how convoluted your page construction is.

On a simple page with no floats, overlaid elements, negative margins, absolute positioning, hidden stuff, and other css layout tomfoolery, it’s perfectly predictable. It’s only when designers do designer things does it start to break down.

    • Larger, OLED screen
    • Hall effect sensor sticks
    • Better rumble
    • Support for 2242 m.2 drives
    • Second SD card reader
    • Better cooling (I’d gladly have a lump in the back middle if it allowed for a quieter/better fan)
    • Better accessory connection options (eg a standard for attaching stuff like extra batteries to the back) - I would prefer this to adding more battery (ie weight) to the unit itself.
    • Tweaks to the back buttons so they work no matter where on the button you press
    • Some sort of charging dock connection standard to avoid the manual usb connection. Maybe just a usb-c on the bottom
    • Small case design change to prevent sd cards being snapped when opening (I haven’t done it, but only by luck)
    • Replace the carry case with a plastic cover to protect screen/sticks like dbrand’s (or at least make it a lot smaller)

Better performance/more ram would be good too I guess but honestly having a unified platform with fixed specs to target has a lot of benefits.

  • I mean yes I agree with all your points. But I stand by the assertion that it’s too expensive. I could handle $5/month, perhaps, but 300 searches is waaaay too few. That’s 10 per day. I did 10 searches this morning before I got out of bed.

For unlimited searches it’s twice the cost of a streaming service. Yet it has negligible bandwidth costs, and significantly less storage cost, probably less development cost. Sure a small user base too, but at that price they’re really going to struggle to grow it!

    It’s really just too expensive.

  • we’re seen as evil because we’re helping DRM exist and we’re ensuring people make money out of games

No, you’re seen as evil because your software is an inefficient and invasive security risk that makes games significantly worse, and compromises/punishes your paying customers in the quest for more money.

I no longer pirate games (thanks to Steam), but I’ll never buy one with Denuvo.

    Fuck allllll the way off.
