I got one of those automated feeders and flashed it with custom ESP32 firmware so I could tie it in with HomeAssistant and get fancy notifications when it fails to dispense food or it runs out or whatever.
Ofc it also provides a way for me to manually trigger the food dispensal routine, so now I can get scammed from anywhere in the house!
Essentially now app devs/companies can have a pop-up for in-app purchases that directs a user to their own payment processors/portals where they don’t have to pay the “Apple tax” and they’ll be able to inform their users as such and even offer their payment method cheaper and/or you get more
Before this ruling, a previous ruling against Apple forbade them from forbidding third-party payment processing in the apps at all as they had since the App stores inception. So Apple followed the exact letter of the order and still “collected” the “Apple Tax” and set rules on the message the pop-up could have.
Now this ruling nixed their “work around”, and I’d say the judge is rather pissed, hence the “effective immediately”
I have now posted the best of the original I could find, though the quality is still meh, at least it’s not AI lol
This was a crosspost from a .ml comm, but reverse image searching it brought me to a 2018 posting, so well before AI image generation: https://www.memedroid.com/memes/detail/2446777/Faites-du-sport
But it looks… different, maybe this is an AI upscaling?
LGR is such a gem
Right? His videos are my favorite for late night. Hopefully he can move back into his house soon lol
Yea the filename issue should be fine, there’s a risk of corruption with exFAT though as @tal@lemmy.today mentioned, but if you’re just storing steam games or other easily replaceable data, I wouldn’t worry about it to much IMO
It does look like there has been major improvements since the last time I tried this kind of shenanigans. Which admittedly has been many years, these days I just don’t bother with dual booting so I’m free to just use the native FS wherever needed for the OS I’m using OR I have an intermediary like a SAN or it’s on a VM or something
Still though, using a non-native FS in this manner is always more headaches than it’s worth, the no journaling is a corruption risk true, but so is using a non-native FS just in different ways lol
IMO, the use case for this drive is storing re-downloadable data is perfectly fine for exFAT, worst case it corrupts and you have to redownload games from steam
NTFS support on Linux has never been good, iirc it still mounts NTFS as read-only by default. You can remount it as R/W, but it isn’t exactly recommended
If you absolutely want to share the steam library between windows and Linux, id recommend either a second disk formatted as exFAT or a new storage partition on the same disk formatted as exFAT
The key here is exFAT, one of the best options for cross-OS compatibility
Edit: @biofaust@lemmy.world I just saw your reply to someone else in the thread that your steam library is on a separate drive already
So that’s perfect! Just move everything off it temporarily and format it with exFAT filesystem and you should be fine
for anyone too lazy to read the article
Um, well considering the paid app mentioned in the article is CrossOver not wine, ig that includes you too lol (though, CrossOver does contribute back to Wine, still can’t trust them long term because profit…)
Where are the refugees going?

Lol I was digging for other parts in my “hardware archive” and came across this, I had actually forgotten about the non-express PCI and thought it was AGP for a minute LMAO
From my reading, if you don’t mind sacrificing speed (tokens/sec), you can run models in system RAM. To be usable though, you’d need at a minimum a dual proc server/workstation for multichannel RAM and enough RAM to fit the model
So for something like DS R1, you’d need like >512GB RAM
I hope its active enough in the Lemmy-verse to support it, I always considered that kind of comm to almost require a large amount of people to make it useful
Then again, the Lemmy-verse is full of nerds soooo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Python EEE incoming!!!
OMG I was getting worried lol
Damn, what timing for this comic considering…the state of the world rn…
I have all sorts of projects and tasks I jump between depending on my ever shifting priorities. And some projects of mine can spawn 20+ tabs on their own.
I have hundreds of tabs open at any given time
I just saw the CRT Gameboy one the other day, it was pure art. Subscribed after that lmao
