Just got back from Christmas dinner and took some pictures of the progress. It’s not done, but it’s functional.

I’m a Bambu user (sorry). My Dad bought me a ln A1 Mini for my birthday 6 months ago, and I’ve since bought a second mini with the AMS, and a big-boy A1. I have them set up in a converted garden shed along with my laser (Laserpecker 4). I insltalled AC, radiant barrier, and insulation. and put up a bunch of Skadis wallboard, added some workbenches along 3 sides of the room, etc. Turns out the previous owner had seriously screwed up the electrical service to the building (plugs would operate at different voltages depending on how many breakers were turned on - scary stuff), so last week I ran new electrical service from the pole to the building (about a 300ft trench).
I’ve printed hundreds of hangers for the skadis wall and laser ventilation systems, etc. I’ve designed custom mounts for my laser accessories, custom conduit for some of the electrical lines (nothing exposed to the elements), and more.
I’m worried because my project for the past 6 months has been creating the perfect hobby space, and I’m almost done.
I don’t know what to do after that…
Monkeys paw curls:
Everyone now needs at least 2 jobs. Groceries are nominally cheaper through massive shrinkflation.
Piracy being the only way to get a game isn’t beneficial to the dev, and Balatro is the kind of game that deserves our money. It could have easily been jammed to the gill with paid boosts premium decks, etc, but instead, they just made a good game.
18 is the highest rating. It’s equivalent to the ESRB “AO” rating, and many storefronts will not sell it, period.
Most life insurance policies don’t cover acts of terrorism.
I’m just saying…
I think what he means is multi-player games are typically cheaper than single-player because the devs make 6 maps or whatever and let the players loose.
A full campaign requires a lot more work to keep it interesting for more than a few minutes.
$1200 was for a mini-split AC, plywood, insulation, and some Ikea Skadis boards to convert the shed.
Yeah. The laser was about 2k and the printers are about 1200 between them.
My setup is in an old garden shed I’ve converted to my tech studio.
I added insulation, radiant barriers, lighting, air conditioning, and have three 3d printers, a laser cutter, and a workstation for my laptop with a wide-screen monitor along 2 sides, and a workbench and tool wall on the third.
Whole conversion probably cost about 1200 in materials, and it’s amazing.
Does it make you regrow teeth?
“Humans have limitless bacon, but force us to perform tricks and go outside to pee in view of the whole world before they’ll give it away as a treat.”
It’s progressive. You’re still allowed to have a billion. That’s just a cap. Anything past that goes to the public.
I mean… a little bloodthirst is okay.
Insurance companies behaved themselves for a few days. That’s already saved lots of lives, making the whole thing balance out as a positive.
I’d be banned by the admins for suggesting how this momentum could be kept going.
Not to be confused with Broken Window Theory, which posits that the presence of broken windows, graffiti, and other forms of vandalism creates lawlessness because people see that the laws aren’t enforced. The idea is that greater criminality is encouraged through the lack of action on minor criminal acts.
We need someone to Broken Window geometric postulate.
The thing is gaming is a weird industry where the consumer price is essentially fixed tegardless of platform/marketplace outside of sales.
Ideally, games would cost more on Steam to make up for the increased fees. That would create a market where Steam would probably have to lower its fees to be competitive. And if Steam did that, EGS would need to improve the quality of its service to remain competitive.
Or maybe Steam could be a boutique marketplace where the games cost more but the UU is better, while EGS is an unholy mess of a UX, but the games cost less.
But what we have right now is neither. With the customers being shielded from the price differences, the negative effects of Steam are invisible to most people and the market doesn’t properly function.
Is a better launcher really worth 18% of the gross value of a game?
If a developer decided to cut 20% of their content, and their excuse was “we want to use that budget towards a better third-party game launcher instead of using it to develop the game” would you be okay with that?
Because that’s what you’re suggesting they do by choosing Steam over EGS.
I carry 2 phones all the time. I work in government. If I use my phone for work, it becomes subject to Open Records requests, so the city gives me a stipend to pay for a second phone to do all my city business.
I worked at a different city that didn’t do that for most employees, and everyone just used their personal phones anyway. We got an Open Records request that resulted in me having to search everyone’s text message history. I felt dirty.
