  • My mom knows I’m always buying tools for work (electrician) and computer-related parts/devices. She still has trouble wrapping around the idea that I don’t want (as much as I sincerely do appreciate the gesture) anything in those arenas due to specificity of requirement, that and most things of that nature tend to be expensive. She still buys little random things from Home Depot, like last year she bought this wrist cuff thing with magnets on it. Great idea on paper, but not in the field. At this point she’s getting older so I kinda just humor her.

  • It might be just me, but all of the best dates and relationships I’ve had over the years (including my now wife) all started with a spark of attraction upon meeting that we jumped into exploring together and developed a friendship over the course of dating. My wife became one of my best friends long before we got married but that definitely developed over time, while the attraction and romance definitely came on strong right at the get go.

I had a couple times transitioned into dating friends but each time it just didn’t fit right (even if the relationship lasted a while) and ended up rather distant from them. Also too, I never had any luck dating online, they all came the old fashioned way.

  • I remember being on the receiving end of that, and this can actually be a good limit is test on compatibility regarding communication and boundaries. First step is to communicate that you feel it moving too fast. If the person is receptive and able to recalibrate without too much drama (it’s understandable to get a little taken aback), that’s a great sign. If their emotions go a little haywire, it might show signs of potential issues that may need to get worked out or that y’all aren’t on the same page emotionally.

  • Same here, probably around 2015. My wife has one due to being in real estate and not understanding the finer points of data privacy (read: doesn’t care at all), so I just use hers to browse marketplace on the rare occasion I’m looking for something. You best believe all of her devices have their own network segment at our house isolated from the rest of our gear lol.

  • This is kinda exemplifying it. It’s one thing to raise awareness, but it’s another to chastise someone’s preferences for one of the main bodily functions necessary to live and try to make them uproot their entire lives around a philosophy. The fact of the matter is, barring a cataclysmic event, people are still going to eat what they enjoy. If you can convert someone to the cause, sweet, but if they say no, leave it be. You aren’t going to shame someone into going vegan, and that he line makes someone a dick.

  • Plenty of non vegans have those views due to first hand experiences with those vegans, namely the few vocal ones that make veganism their entire personality and admonish anyone who isn’t like them. Personally, I’ve been chewed out twice by two separate vegans, once because I ordered a cheeseburger at a bar (we were out having beers, I got hungry, ordered a burger, and friend of a friend proceeded on a half hour rant about how I’m evil and am destroying the planet, and that I am a terrible person, etc), the other because I walked past a rally on my way somewhere and wasn’t expressly in support of their cause. I also have a couple buddies that went the vegan route, but we just don’t talk about to because it’s a pointless argument. Like, I’m cool with y’all’s choice, power to you, just don’t crawl up my ass because I like meat. Live and let live

  • Yeah, but it’s different in an RV. With a countertop unit, you’d have to either secure it for travel, losing limited counter space in the process, or find somewhere to stow it, and storage in a camper is already at a premium. There’s also the fact that any form of dishwasher operates on 120vac, meaning you can only use it when you’re on shore power or running a genny (whereas a refrigerator can auto switch between propane and 120v). Again, not saying it can’t be done, but there are logistical concerns that mean dishwashers and other large appliances are the first to be forgone.
