It’s become more and more obvious that the reason he regularly looks like a rabbit caught in headlights is because he is, in fact, a fraud and not the tech genius he would like everyone to believe.

(Academic) education is not intelligence, and certainly not wisdom.
The worst part is this education doesn’t protect you from falling for certain loopy ideas. Critical reasoning is a skill and like all skills it needs to be learnt and maintained.
“Help, we are being attacked”
“Stop fighting!”
“Watch out, there’s a bus coming!”
“Leave me alone, leave me alone!”
“Are you proud of working for ICE? Do you go to bed proud of what you do?”
There are absolutely good reasons to yell at people.
Seriously, what kind of performative crap is saying things like “it’s never right to yell at anyone”?
I can’t seriously think you either believe or have thought this through.
It’s like you didn’t read the message and understand the context.
That really doesn’t appear to be what people are describing
Telegram is a social network masquerading as a messaging app, not a “secure messaging” app.
Some place in Rone when I was about 10 on a trip with my parents. Cut out of a massive rectangle, ate in the street, it was memorable.
Sounds like you’re in good hands. Enjoy the ride, plenty to learn and to feel good about understanding :)
Physicist Education is amazing and one of their most catchy songs.
I didn’t think one really needs to recommend any in particular to demonstrate their musical ability, they are all complex and impressive. And good! the technicality serves the music, not the other way round.
You assume a whole lot of thought and strategy from “the boss” :)
I dont disagree though, fundamentally.
How big is said workplace? Can you respectfully ask for an exemption? Don’t say Windows will make you miserable (it makes everyone miserable, apart from a few Microsoft bootlickers), talk about loss of productivity, reduced security and increased risk, and – if you can – challenge the grounds on which the change is being made.
Often, they are incapable of providing proper justification for the change. May not help, but you’ll have the minor satisfaction of knowing it is bullshit.
Meh, does “the boss” pay you to use a shovel or to dig stuff up?
It’s obvious OP is going to be miserable and less productive on Windows, it’s not to their employer’s benefit for that to happen.

Spoken like a true conspiracy enthusiast.
Was probably Majestic 12.

These are good comments.

Supercomputers are not made of custom or exotic hardware. They are large clusters of high end servers.
Jesus fuck, can we give this poor abused xkcd a rest?

It’s not a theoretical situation :)

Pretty hilarious if after years of being the scourge of Linux and FOSS advocates, complaining how they could never leave Windows because they need it to play, gamers become our greatest allies, switching in droves to get more out of their hardware and games.
Really, this isn’t entirely new, I remember some games were known to run better on Wine than Windows years ago already (Soldier of Fortune comes to mind).
It’s a mascot, not a logo. So it having a gender isn’t strange.
Also, since its pronouns are (quoting the announcement blog post) “he/him, they/them, she/her, and it” that is very open and not rather post-gender, in my opinion. The focus in the announcement is not on thee mascot’s gender in fact.
