Programming@programming.dev•Advice on a project idea for learning Rust!
9·1 year agoDo not use Yew. It’s no longer being maintained. If you want to use a Rust frontend framework, you should check out Leptos. It will feel familiar if you’ve used SolidJS before, as it was inspired by it.
I don’t really care about anonymity much. Privacy != Anonymity.
It seems like some people use my searxng instance sometimes. It’s not locked after all.
The search requests are being made on my behalf on the host (in my case, the hetzner VPS).
I host my searxng instance on a hetzner vps so my ip is not leaked anywhere.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•If you use the LibreWolf browser, you may want to read this.
1·1 year agoUnfortunately the GrapheneOS team do not provide apks for the vanadium browser. Have fun compiling it yourself.
I doubt cromite’s devs’ knowledge in privacy as they still use Adblock Plus (which has some privacy issues) instead of uBlock Origin.
Brave is even shadier with their past URL injection “accident” and overall crypto involvment.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•How private is the Presearch search engine?
171·1 year agoThe best is to self host your own SearXNG metasearch engine.

32·1 year agoGrayjay still works and is being actively maintained. They also support other platforms like PeerTube and Odysee, which you can easily enable.
If you can get a invite code, sure. Or you also can try out Disroot.
I personally pay for Posteo (1 euro/mo).

Programming@programming.dev•Little frustrated with Github, gpg keys, access tokens and correct setup
7·1 year agoWhy not use SSH keys? Imo they are much easier to manage.
COSMIC DE is really starting to look amazing. I can’t wait to daily drive it.

Rust@programming.dev•Koto: a simple and expressive programming language, usable as an extension language for Rust applications, or as a standalone scripting language
2·1 year agoOh, very nice. I was searching for an easy to use scripting language for a project I am making. Is it easy for beginners? I am currently using mlua, but it is a bit hacky. I liked Rhai, but it has no real LSP at the moment and no asynchronous code support. And also, does it have sandboxing?

Rust@programming.dev•I made a minimal pastebin in 60 lines of Rust
5·1 year agoA mutable static is rare and sometimes used in embedded environments. This is very unneccessary for a simple pastebin clone.
I am also not very sure why you’re using axum and then handling uploading the actual text without axum. You could have made this much more simpler.

Scaled. Though your feed will be filled with posts from the same community if that community suddenly started posting lots of posts and is a new one. It happened to me with !onehundredninetysix@lemmy.blahaj.zone
