I thought the doctor said something like arrhythmia, but i got my results the other week sometime, and it wasn’t anything. she said there’s nothing showing as something that would cause me to not be able to take stimulants

i sure as shit hope so. I can’t deal with ADHD anymore without meds. It’s ridiculous. Truly. I’m so forgetful. I have CHRONIC executive dysfunction etc.

Yup. I’m in Australia. That’s as close as I will say. But yeah, it’s pretty dumb. I mean, last j checked adhd was a mental health condition, and public hospitals, among other things, deal with mental health disorders

yes, I have seen both a public psychiatrist and a public psychologist, and they both said that the public system won’t touch it. I was seeing both, and they both said that i’d need to see a private psychiatrist to get it done.

the public health system in my state doesn’t touch ADHD or ASD assessments AT ALL, from what I’ve been told. I asked about getting an ADHD assessment done when I was with the public mental health clinic i was with, and they said i’d need to get it done privately.

ah thanks. I will contact them tomorrow

as sad as it is, I found out i can’t take stimulants. i have a bad ticker. So atomoxetine it is i guess. Still gotta get diagnosed though.

At least in Australia, it’s less about the disability name, and more about how much it affects you. So just by getting a dx doesn’t mean you’re automatically gonna get on disability. I don’t know what other places are like. A dx alone is not enough to get disability. You need to prove it negatively affects you so much that you can’t work.

Oh. That’s sad. I haven’t looked at it in a while :(

oh… i just got the joke lol.

nah, Customer Relationship Manager :)

I go through periods where i read a fair bit (with a lot of breaks), and then other periods where i simply cannot find the motivation of focus at all to read anything. i haven’t been able to read at all in months, i think. so I’m hopeful that meds will help me to stop “hyperfocussing” on reading, and doing reading like a normal person.
I find that ED is the worst part about reading. once i start reading, i can do it. I just struggle, with many things, to start. once i start something, i can sometimes manage to finish, but it’s the starting that stops me. I do also have ASD, so it might be that?
but yeah, thanks for the advice :)

thanks everyone. it’s been helpful. I think I’m overestimating what ADHD meds can do :/

Thanks. I think i AM indeed vastly overestimating how much ADHD meds can do for me, which sucks :/

awww. she looks like a refined lady.

I’m sorry :(

aww. she’s gorgeous!
What’s her name?

there’s also one called monica. it’s similar to a CRM, but for personal relationships. helps you keep track of when you last spoke to someone, what you spoke about etc. It’s available at http://monicahq.com/

why did you take a random picture of a bed and post it to the cats comm? I don’t see a cat
gotta get dx’d first. I have my computer test in a few weeks, then i will got for my follow-up, and hopefully get diagnosed. tbh, I’m not 100% sure i actually want stimulants. I had insomnia for 1.5 decades. i can’t go back to that. But it’s good to have the option available.
