I have the exact same issues with Tapas, except the lighting is usually closer to a single sputtering candle, so I can’t see anything on the table. In theory Korean BBQ seems fun but I always end up feeling exactly this way.
If I had to take a guess, it could be that either they are being moderated off platforms by companies that are toeing the line, or more likely the streamers have seen the way the current govt is dealing with their problems, and feel like identifying themselves digitally makes it more likely that ICE will turn up at their door and deport them despite being born white in the US.
If I commission a human artist to paint me a picture or write me a song, did I create it? I gave them the prompt to generate the work with their skills, so I must be as creative and skilled as any work they return, right?
You’ve asked something else to make your art, and then claimed that because you were really specific with your request that you deserve the kudos for the creativity and skill of the art. Pick up a pen and stop stealing existing artists’ work in order to force a computer to stroke your delusional ego.
As a DM, once initiative is rolled, I do not keep track of player AC, or any number on their sheet for that matter. I have a vague idea of their hit points, but I have a lot more going on on this side of the screen. Remembering if the fighter is holding their shield, or if someone has some special modifier applied to them is taking up unnecessary bandwidth. So I can take a guess that 29 hits your AC, but I always want to make sure.
If I can mow down Arab and Russians and Chinese soldiers in any number of American video games, why not Israelis?
The article talks about gushing blood and gruesome visuals as if CoD didn’t ask us to commit a terrorist attack in an airport 15 years ago. At least this game narrows your targets to IDF soldiers, according to the article.
Also, the game historically has had ~25 concurrent players at any given time. I don’t think this game is as important as certain people would want you to believe.
Try talking to them like the kind of guy who still uses the term “Oriental” would. Belittling, condescending, politely racist….
Soft layoffs? These companies deserve to fail if they thought that was a good idea.
Tell your employees the company is in trouble, and then make a blanket offer to staff to voluntarily exit the company for small compensation? You know who’s going to take that deal? The people who have been in the industry long enough to not look a gift horse in the mouth. Who does that leave you with?
Archer was actually my first thought.
Worst opsec agent ever. “My change of clothes will be… essentially the same outfit, but with a black backpack”
You make a good point. I haven’t gone back to minecraft because I know there’s going to be more changes made in the imminent future, and I’d rather play a complete game. I picked up Stardew about a month before the Ginger Island update, so it really felt like a complete experience.
I don’t think it will ever fizzle out. It’s an amazing game with a simple premise.
I do worry that the desire to not let a game be done could lead to burnout from the audience though. I left minecraft behind because every update added less and less of substance, and asked me to come back and do something that didn’t really enhance the experience of my “completed” survival world.
I understand that minecraft has not slipped in popularity for the masses, but for me it’s enough of a pain that I don’t play any more.
Stardew Valley is great, and the updates we have received add a lot of content to the game, but it’s all stuff that makes an 11/10 game… still an 11/10. I would love the effort to go into Haunted Chocolatier, or other great projects.
It’s a nice idea, but a design feature built in to most countries is that the majority of people are too poor to skip a day of work. Losing their job, or simply not being paid for a days work could tip people into starvation, default on existing debts, or loss of access to expensive medication.
Anyone high enough on the pyramid to be the target of such a protest does not care if the economy tanks. They control the country now, they can just defund education even more than it already is to line their pockets.
By working with Midjourney, he adds a human touch to historical storytelling
What part of the process is the human part? The bit where he asks the climate-destroying computer for a picture of a city he admittedly knows very little about? Or is the human part all of the art and images that were used to create a plagiarised AND inaccurate image of history?
The guy walks into a historical building, and upon seeing some art, his first response is “I wonder what that art is about, maybe my followers can tell me”. This is the guy who is creating historical images of the city? The guy who only learnt recently that large ships were not historically seen in the harbour? I’ll admit my knowledge of Amsterdam is lacking, but I’m not trying to pass AI slop off as historically accurate representations of the past.
You want to bring history to life? Ask a historian about the history, and pay an artist to accurately represent the truth.
To piggyback on previous responses, a common trick I’ve seen in Feywild games is when introducing a new Fey, they would say “You can call me ArgleBargle, may I have your name?”
The trick is that if you give your name to someone in the Feywild, it is no longer yours.
The kicker is that owning the disk entitles you to a piece of plastic, and not much more at the moment. When servers go down, or day one patches are no longer available, the disk becomes no better than a coaster for many modern games.
Was it not? You ventured into mega dungeons and used your wit and skills to gain levels and overcome the DMs threats.
It may not have been as over the top as 5e, but your character in old editions of D&D was still amassing power over time, which was the fun.
For someone who it “didn’t matter” to, he sure had a lot of vitriol against women…
White, cis, and male has been the default for hundreds of years. When a piece of media presents an alternative, some white cis males consider it an attack on their very being. They see faces that are not their own and think that this ‘correction’ of centuries of oppression means that the media is saying that being white or male is inherently wrong.
It’s narrow-minded and selfish, but in a way that’s akin to a toddler who has never had to share their toys before. Hopefully they will eventually grow up and understand that the world does not revolve around them. They’ve just never had to experience that fact before.
