There was a very noticeable drop off in people at my university computer science program after the first programming class. There is an actual wall there for a lot of people in terms of comprehending how programming works, things like assigning a value to a variable where difficult concepts to some.

Sure for newcomers to a project like the Linux kernel they have to learn C , because that is what the project is currently written in, but trying to transition the Linux kernel to rust forces people who already are contributing to go and learn rust to be able to continue what they were already doing. One thing I kind of like about monster hunter is you don’t need to commit to the long term, a hunt will last at most 50 minutes usually closer to 25 or less. You can boot the game up do a hunt and shutdown, and still feel like you did something in it.
