  • Japan had a lot more wood-only city buildings back then compared to the colder climate in Europe, where more massive stone architecture was common. In Europe, cellars are also common/default, unlike in Japan.

During high heat firestorms, most of the wooden material burns up and the ash gets carried away. The photo definitely shows cleanup and very likely was not taken the day after the bombing, but a single firestorm definitely can produce these results, much like other examples in Cologne, Hamburg, Dresden, Würzburg,… Except those had much more stone rubble standing afterwards.

  • Technically true, but I think everybody knows exactly what kind of dlc is meant, and because they still make up the majority of dlc content and addon-sized dlcs are so rare, it’s fair to call them that.

Moneygrab empty dlcs ( shiny horse armor! ) are stupid, and history has shown that people are not fiscally responsible enough to not be lured into spending absurd amounts of money for very shallow or plain empty content. “Vote with your wallet” doesn’t really work in the face of more and more insidious marketing efforts.

The people that don’t understand the problem usually are management, and I have to spend an exhausting time each day explaining to them why the problem exists and why it takes so long to fix it. I once was honestly telling them their meetings were a big part of the delays. Which then obviously led to more meetings on “how we can better communicate so we can have less meetings and more productive time”. I wish I was joking.

  • Antlion itself an official wireless modmic, but it’s a staggering 150 bucks, was cheaper a could years ago… On the upside, it’s pretty much a lifetime purchase and really good quality. But it’s definitely overpriced.

If your budget is lower, you can look at lavalier mics or wire mics. Those are the kind that TV/ video guys usually wear. Lavaliers are simply tacked to the top of your shirt, while the wire mics are super thin wires that you wear under your actual headset. Both are light, have good audio quality and nur importantly are available at much wider and fairer price ranges, as they are less of a nice. Lav mics can be as cheap as ten bucks.

  • I have invested lots of effort and research and sadly money over the years into this specific question. And nowadays my recommendation would be: keep it simple.

That means: get a headset that is well reviewed and uses a wireless connection. Do not use Bluetooth. Bluetooth has good quality now, but no matter what perfect settings you use, you will have a noticeable delay, which is especially noticable during hectic gaming voice comms. Some headsets with a dedicated wireless receiver ( usually a small USB dongle) offer BT as an extra option, which can be great if you want to use it for listening to music or doing occasional calls while moving outside while linked to your phone.

Second tip: don’t get a combined all-in-one gaming headset. They can be good, but are always overpriced für what they offer. Marketing ftw. Instead get a good headset and get a simple separate mic. Modmic or any derivative works.

Overall, you’ll get tremendously better quality for significantly less price. The sheer amount of options for good “generic” headphones is immense. Added bonus: because the two are separate, you can swap one out when it breaks. Especially the addon microphones have a tendency to last decades, unlike the headsets themselves, which suffer more immediate wear and tear.

  • Yes, there’s much more.

But it’s hard to explain without spoiling things, as is typical for Kojima games. His games often feature unique and bold new gameplay, have a strong focus on character storytelling ( almost movie-like), all embedded in worlds that share many similarities with our own, but have bizarre twists to them.

In terms of gameplay, it has elements of survival, crafting, stealth, fighting/shooting, and navigation.

I consider Kojima games pieces of art. Not everyone will enjoy them, sure, but it’s worth having at least attempted to interact with them, purely to experience their hard to forget uniqueness. Those that find the gameplay enjoyable often rank it as a game of the decade in terms of memorability.

Kind of a bad example, because mankind very clearly stems from ‘humankind’. And people are lazy and prefer using short words. The unfairness is rather that women got stuck with the words requiring more characters. But that is a phenomenon of the English language and not present in others.

However, in most languages the words for man/male are closer to human(kind) than female/woman, which very clearly shows the historic patriarchal influence, coming back around to your point after all.

  • You underestimate how little money such a dlc makes. It’s the same reason why the promised SP addon for GTA 5 was cancelled. Return of investment is magnitudes higher for any GTA online content. Making a new car model is little effort and brings in millions of dollars.

Having to deal with story, level design, voice actors and possibly animators or even Mocap: soooooo much more work. Sure they could do it, and even Earn good money with it. But online pay dlcs are so little effort for so much more payout , why even bother?

Rockstar hated what FiveM did, even threatening them at the start because they were afraid it would compete with their own online service. And now they bought them up, but only after realizing how much more people ( or rather their wallets) they can possibly reach.

  • Not at all similar.

The r after the H is"hard"/rolling. The Hr sound alone is probably where most non natives will have trouble. The closest sound is probably the pirate “Arrrr”.

The ts is a sharp “z” sound ( like the plural ending in farts) and the k sound is also hard/sharp ( like in Mikado).

Despite appearing and sounding different, Hrvatska is actually the modern development of the early medieval Latin word “Croatia”.

It’s also common in many languages to call the country by a translation of Croatia instead of Hrvatska. The proper way to address the country would be “Republic of Hrvatska” and its people as “Hrvati” instead of “Croats”.

  • I’m theory: Height advantage. Stand up to engage over high cover. In reality, horseback gun fights were extremely uncommon, especially in the European theatre. Japan and China had some. Cavalry was more commonly used as mounted infantry or in support rules such as couriers, military police or escorts for motorized/mechanized combat assets. WW2 was an intense transitional period for equestrian warfare, maybe even more so then WW1 was shortly before.

Still, traditional exercises such as shown in the picture serve a purpose. Getting both horse and rider familiar and disciplined with a variety of unfamiliar situations, so they can hopefully react well to unexpected intense encounters.

  • Nobody will ever be able to force changes on a contract retroactively on you. The only time this ever happens is if the original contract violated some law, and then the retroactive change will be ordered by a Court of law only to revert illicit gains made. So even if this current change were to affect you, you simply would not renew the subscription. You would then still be able to distribute all your previous works, because they only have to fulfill the old license agreement. Things only get more complicated if it’s a continuous development project and you want to be able to provide updates and/or new content.
