EA is the publisher, not the game studio. They just aquire and profit from Studios that make good games.
And then they consistently enshittify them.
RIP Westwood, Maxis and many others.

This, very well put. I’ve been struggling to vocalise why I like this to folks and I think you nailed it.
Its a different message for a different era. And one we need. Too many are looking at the near and potentially bleak future, we need them to realise that hope can still lay beyond that.

This show is one part Lower Decks, one part Prodigy, one part Discovery, and a dash of SNW… I dig it. Excited to see where it goes.

This is exactly my problem with BCs stupid laws. Kids can’t be without their parents until 11.
ELEVEN!
Christ. How do they ever learn independence when they spend all of the most crucial years of their development forcibly tied to the parents hip?
I was allowed to go to the corner store at five. By ten I was completely independent and mowing lawns as an afterschool job.

This particular studio is responsible for some of their best titles.

Lol, lost the internet because they have less DCs?
Meanwhile most of America is still on dialup or early 2000s broadband speeds.
This is a fucking shallow definition of winning.

Fireplaces have a flue. If you close it the smoke has no where to go but the house.
The whole idea still smacks of dumbfuckery, don’t get me wrong; but its not as much of a lost cause as you’re thinking.
Username checks out.
Mr Boimler! Beam Moopsy over to that… thing and let’s call it a day. We have a dinner celebration to attend.
Anyone contributing to open source either does it:
Most FOSS devs are in position two. By a large margin. They could be relaxing, or earning more money doing freelancing to make ends meet, but instead they are trying to build something they want to see happen. That requires focusing on the important tasks and that often means not having time to spend on poorly reported bugs that are actually users just not RTFM and opening issues. It wastes the devs time, and projects with too much of this have development stagnate and are frequently shuttered.
And devs that just do this to get a better job stop contributions once their new job takes over their life, and then the project suffers.
Users need to appreciate FOSS devs more because some of the most important projects we need in 2025 are developed only because they want to see them happen.

Oh sorry, just realized we are talking app servers.
Yeah, Google apps, and linux hosted apps. Havent had a company that ran windows or MS anything in 14 years.

Mac, actually. Its a different kind of bad. At least I can use many of the same cli tools.

Its also trained on stolen data, artists work without their permission. AI training, even for the offline models, uses massive amounts of electricity and water and is currently accelerating climate around the world as well as unaffordability as demand for water and electricity cause prices to skyrocket. At the same time its accellerating the unaffordability of personal computing, including phones, and threatening to remove open PC hardware platforms by removing direct access to affordable DIY hardware.
On the other side of this, continued use and justification of LLMs existence is enabling the founding of mass surveillance and control systems that will be the foundation for totaltarian states, while at the same time enabling the rich to manipulate and control truth. And because of randomized token tie breaking, anything that comes out of it is only partially correct even when its one of the 30% of the times the reply is partially useful.
And - on top of all of that, you are nerfing your own skills and brainpower everytime you use it, in addition to having it do something for you that you could be learning yourself, which would have increased your existing skills while teaching you a new one.
AI is a horrible technology, doesn’t matter where you run it.

Lets fucking hope not.

I lived for years without meds before COVID and wish I still could.
Not everyone can or should, however, should you be able to find a way to roll with it and use it while recognising your limits and when you need to change tasks etc, it can be much better to use tools than to use medication.
Medications like ADHD meds are not a type of medication that builds up and maintains a status quo of effect. They burn out and they must, because most of them are methamphetamine based and would keep you up all night.
So, like pain meds, ADHD meds have a pendulum effect. Whatever ADHD focus is without them is a baseline; the pendulum is at rest. When you take them, your focus improves greatly which makes all the other symptoms easier, and now your relative baseline from your perspective has shifted. You want normal to feel like that all the time, and by comparison, your natural baseline is much much worse.
But then the meds wear off, and you take dive in the evening. Rather than returning to your normal baseline, you go more off the rails as your perspective has shifted, which increases the overwhelming nature of your baseline, and its like the pendulum swings past the resting point into a level of disorder you’ve never felt.
As someone who struggles with weight due to ADHD hyperfocus combined with late night cravings, this is a death knell to self control and weight control; however as mentioned without the meds post-covid, I cannot focus at my job. So they are absolutely necessary now.
Its better to not deal with a swinging pendulum, but sometimes its better to get yourself into a better place.

2011, contracting for a web marketing agency I came across a tool they used that aggregated data from Market, Salesforce and data brokers.
You could put someone’s email in, and it would tell you every bit of info they ever filled out on a form for a sale or a freebie.
Name and address were often there, sometimes DoB, sometimes other PID, then there was shopping habits and history etc.
It was creepy as fuck. I dropped Facebook and twitter at the time. And I never filled a form or answered any questions at a till again. Then I started blocking trackers.
Always socks.
