Robust Mirror@aussie.zoneto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•Monopoly Go is the highest-budget video game so far.English4·17 days agoLiterally every big store that sells boardgames constantly have like 10+ different versions of it. I don’t know who the hell all these Monopoly fans are that are apparently not just buying Monopoly, but buying enough different versions to make it viable to keep offering them, but someone is keeping them in business.
I can only assume new parents of young kids just getting something they remember from when they were a kid. But that can only be half the story. I don’t believe that these people are becoming Monopoly collectors buying up every alternate version that comes out.

Robust Mirror@aussie.zoneto Games@lemmy.world•A couple of Switch 2 owners are already reporting expanded back panels, Nintendo investigates possible causesEnglish4·19 days agoIt’s different to the point I sometimes go back to 8 for the more traditional format. That isn’t something that has ever been the case for me across other mario kart games.

I’m not rejecting streaming on the basis of price (though, the current price of paying for even a couple at once doesn’t help), I’m rejecting it on the basis of it being a fractured, inconsistent and lacking service that fundamentally acts against the interest of its users. If a streaming service offered the same things stremio+debrid does I’d happily pay 10x the price.
People used to pay others for burnt DVDs and CDs back in the day if they didn’t have a pc with a burner themselves. Same thing really.

I no joke own about 900 games I haven’t played between steam (most bought when I was young and naive, probably bought like 10 games in the last 10 years now I know better), epic free games, and playstation plus monthly “free” games (not even counting the catalogue you now get access to), yes they’re technically not entirely free but I’d be paying for plus regardless so they kinda are.
Now as a lot of these games weren’t chosen by me, by no means do I want to play them all, and some are duplicates across platforms. But if even 10% interest me, that’s still 90 games. I probably play games at a rate slower than 1 per month. That’s years of games to me. And more will be stacking up in that time. I haven’t bought a game in like 3 years and it’s entirely possible I’ll never buy a game again at this rate.

Download stremio.
Optionally pay for a Debrid service such as real Debrid (this will basically give you a smoother experience for a couple dollars a month)
Search torrentio
Choose the options (very self explanatory) and install the addon.
You’re literally done. Start playing any show/movie you like. It’ll work.

Robust Mirror@aussie.zoneto Games@lemmy.world•Palworld confirms ‘disappointing’ game changes forced by Pokémon lawsuitEnglish1·2 months agoI don’t think Nintendo has as many die hards as you think. The wii and switch had over 100 million sales. The wii u had 13 million.
Now look at switch game sales, scroll past their major IPs and pokemon games, and once again the sales show around 13 million or less.
On wii u mario kart had 8 million sales, and not one other game passed 6 million.
The wii, wii u and switch all had around 3 million sales in their first quarter and didn’t really pass that 13 million mark in their first year.
If only die hard fans that buy no matter what buy it, I think it absolutely will be a problem for them. And I think it has a real chance of happening. Half my casual gamer friends didn’t even know switch 2 was a thing, and the ones that did know about it said they haven’t seen any reason to get it yet, especially at the prices they’re seeing.
The reality is, the family and casual markets are what carried them whether they like it or not. Not the rabbid fans. And like with the wii u, if they don’t appeal to those markets properly, they won’t sell well.
they don’t stop eating when they get full, like we do.
Speak for yourself.

Sure but it falls apart when an asshole gives them a dollar change instead of a 20 and they fold it as a 20. Any system relies on having trust that the system was done correctly as you can’t verify.
