Wilford Brimley has returned
I’m hoping most of that money was spent on developers and salaries since it would appear they didn’t spend shit on advertising. Silver lining to a failure is that at least people had jobs for a good while
This could be about politics or DougDoug’s twitch chat
Im Def racking up interest but I’m lowkey banking on student loans being forgiven before the extra interest becomes a problem. Like, I’m gonna assume that at worst I’m adding an extra year of payments, but that’s going to be future me’s problem in like 15 years.
I definitely don’t qualify for finacial hardship in any sense of the term. I’m in the high end of middle class income. I’ve been participating in the not paying as a form of protest for student loan reform/forgiveness. I’ll be relatively fine when payments of $500 a month start back up. It’ll suck but not gonna put me into hardship.
It’s really about solidarity at this point cause I’ll be in student debt for an insane amount of time. Then again, even tho I’m okay, I don’t have much of a runway if I were to get an unexpected layoff
I’m not sure what I’m gonna do. I think I might choose to miss one or two months just to see if we all hold the line
Don’t stop, babe, I’m about to also
I totally forgot to include carplay in my long list of things. It’s such a dependable and clutch feature. Good carplay support had way too much influence in my decision of what car I bought.
I dislike this logic. It’s really a black and white / all or nothing approach. Also, I think the photos app is just a microcosm of a bigger consideration. That being which OS do I trust more overall if I trust some of the built I apps more?
So first, I will say that the phrase “stopping me from switching” kind of implies that I’m looking to switch but can’t.
I used to have android between the iPhone 4s and the iPhone X. Back then, there were significant features that I wanted that I couldn’t get from iOS. Tho now there isn’t much that android has that I don’t feel I have access to that is significant .
As for what keeps me around and happy with iPhone is
Over the years, I’ve gone from being a major tech enthusiast to now not wanting to have to futz around when I’m not on the clock. I still like getting tech and adding it to my home, but I don’t get in the weeds anymore. I just want my shit to work. I want my stuff to just work for my family.
I dunno, tweaking and futzing used to be important to me. But now confidence and simplicity matter more to me now
I’m not a capitalist but glad the free market regularly aligns with DEI. Thought the company I work at would back off a bit to the news coverage of outraged hysterics but they’ve doubled down.
I think you said elsewhere that they are new and that they are photoelectric rather than the radioactive ones.
I’m purely taking a shot in the dark but I’m wondering if you should try sealing up the hole(s) in the wall that you made to run electric and to mount the detector
My thinking is that dust might be getting caught up in a tiny draft through that hole and it’s so close to the source that it sets it off. Cause like, if wind hits the side of the house, there can be some positive pressure in the crawlspace which often also means inside the walls.
I guess maybe somehow there could be some stream or condensation as well. If it’s right by the front door and the humidity is high, maybe the hot air from outside meets the AC air and causes a tiny amount of condensation. Or if you live in hellscape temperatures, maybe there could be some vapor generated because of the hot air.
Depends on the type of RAID, probably not needed for just expanding storage but having one that allows for a drive to fail is absolutely still prudent
I’m gonna be completely honest. I don’t truly get all the inner working of git. I’m a senior DevOps Engineer and been using git for a decade, but is git is simular to sed
or awk
for me. I know how to do what I want really well but when shit goes wrong, I’m flying by the seat of my pants.
A lot of times, I just know what to do to fix things because it’s rote memory with substitutions. But if you needed me to explain upstreams and rebases in actual detail, I’d be in trouble. But it rarely becomes an actual problem to the level where I’ll dedicate time to learning all the advanced stuff.
That said, I’ve learnt that most senior people also just pretend they get it all but instead are just relying on rote memorization and basic concepts. Anyone else here in the same camp of being a fraud with git?
I’m choosing not to try to translate these memes cause I like just being CO fused as fuck
The company reportedly told employees they can apply for other jobs within the company, though some doubt they’re qualified for other Apple roles in the city, and most don’t plan to move.
Sounds like it’s QA people. Which sucks extra hard cause that’s a much harder field to get another job in. If they were software engineers, the world would be their oysters. I bet a lot of people will make the move and it’s quite shitty and cynical from apple to move a team that doesn’t have a lot of options.
If they tried to move an engineering team to texas, they know they’d get told to get fucked
Mine sucked too but I’m trans and would kill to have known that information from the getgo rather than finding out in my 20s
There is some ratio of civilian deaths to military targets hit that is essentially “acceptible”. Especially when the military targets are amoung civilians. I don’t know what that number is but it’s definitely way way way way less than right now.
22k people dead is wholely unacceptable. At absolute best, giving Isreal the biggest benifit of the doubt I can, Isreal is indiscriminately killing civilians.
To be brutally honest, 95 was an eternity ago in microbiology terms. Human genome project didn’t complete till 2003. You must have some wild perspective on seeing us go from what are essentially a modern dark times to modern day
