  • These things always annoy the hell out of me. Not because they’re giving the game away so soon after release, but because they always say they’re giving the games away for free when they’re not. You have to have a PS+ account to play these. If you ever unsub you lose access to these games until you subscribe again. My library of games that I own should not be a subscription service. If you’re giving me a “free” game it should actually be free and not contigent upon a $70 yearly fee. Xbox used to do the same thing but you actually got to keep your games if you ever unsubscribed from live gold.

  • In my experience running non-steam games through steam with proton is the best way to play those games too. The only time I’ve ever had to use lutris was when I had to install some DLC for a GOG application on the same prefix as the game because it had a separate exe installer for that DLC. I haven’t been able to figure out a way to do that through steam. But once I got that done I just ran the game through steam and it worked perfectly. The heroic games launcher gets suggested a lot too but I literally have never been able to get it to work for a single game.

Um. This is just flatly not true. For starters, according to the Chinese government themselves only 23 military personel died. And those casualties only occurred AFTER the peoples liberation army started using live rounds against protesters the evening of June the 3rd 1989. And the 300 number is very conservative. The actual number is likely in the thousands.

You very clearly are either a troll just making things up or you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about

Are you seriously comparing the Tiananmen square massacre where at least 300 peaceful protesters/students were killed by the Chinese military to the Jan 6 riots where there were only two people killed? (Technically there were 5 deaths but three of them were either overdoses or natural causes). One was a cop killed by the rioters and another was a lady warned several times that she was going to be shot if she continued to break into the capital building.

These are not even remotely similar situations.

  • If it’s anything like how the Wii was basically a GameCube it may not even be all that hard to rework existing switch emulators to work with switch 2 games. Given that it’s going to have full back compat I bet that’s why they went after switch emus so hard. They wanted to halt development as much as possible for as long as possible so it doesn’t eat away at their switch 2 sales.

  • Technically it’s 1280x800 which is 720p but slightly taller. While saying it has an 800p display would technically be correct it doesn’t provide context for the actual resolution of the display since it’s only half of the full description of the resolution and there’s no widely agreed upon “800p” resolution. 720p has a coded understanding for how sharp a display is among tech knowledgable people. 800p has no such history. So while saying the steam deck has a 720p display may not be technically correct its actually a much more useful descriptor as most people understand how sharp that display is going to be.

Technically this “1080p” display isn’t even 1080p. Its 1920x1200 but it has the same pixel density as a similarly sized 1080p 16:9 display. So we say 1080. 4k is also not 4000 pixels. Its 3840x2160

Edit: Apparently the decksite is actually a 16:9 1080p display. I had assumed it kept the aspect ratio of the deck itself. It evidently does not.

  • I mean, isn’t that how trademark is supposed to work? I’m no expert or anything but the original creator hadn’t used the trademark in over ten years and ostensibly had no intention to do so. He also didn’t respond to the notice of opposition.

Seems to me the courts did the right thing in letting gametech have the trademark if they intended to use it.

That’s not to say that I support them making a shitty Cryptobro game but them obtaining the trademark by itself doesn’t really seem shady to me.
