Some of these, especially Valentine’s day, could also be labeled “commercial” but I guess that’s the nature of capitalism to commercialize any kind of festivities.

Totally. I always think of this when people say Muslims overreact about drawings of their prophet or people burning their holy book. There were protests in the streets and famous Catholics like Pesci and Madonna attacked O’Connor in the press. Madonna, it seemed, was even more frustrated because this thing completely removed the attention from her new album that came out around the same time.
Edit: Madonna playing the prude was a nice touch.
very much like they picked up schoolgirls from school for Russell brand to be brought back to his flat.
Is this what happened with Russell Brand? I just heard he was a sexual predator, not that it was schoolgirls. It’s insane that the BBC didn’t get any wiser after Saville. It should be easy: don’t hire known pervs and definitely don’t let them use your stuff to abuse children.
He said he wanted to give her a good smacking or something. And he hasn’t apologized yet as far as I know.
Around this time Nirvana drew a lot of attention for mocking Top of the Pops by miming hilariously badly to Smells like teen spirit on air. It was a more innocent time. Ripping up a pic of the pope was wild.
It’s the same with Jimmy Saville, everybody knew. I remember chatting on a forum in a thread about celebrities who are absolute assholes. I’m not from the UK, so I didn’t know him before somebody in that thread told us about this lady from his little town who was given a small book store by Saville, alledgedly because he had abused her when she was a girl, and threatened to go public. Granted, Sinnead O’Connor took it to another level. And Joe Pesci showed his true colors. What an asshole.
Why would you want to go three minutes without talking about Linux?
Well, that’s as good of an explanation for that name as any I’ve come up with, so I using that in the future. Not sure how it makes sense, but that’s okay.
I don’t even keep my wallet in my back pocket. I used to stuff my wallets with receipts, bustickets and whatnot, so I guess the strain of all that would also wear on my cards…
Same for me. Also the one I got is made out of hard plastic so my cards don’t get bent or broken(this was always a problem for me before)
Honestly? I switched from Windows to Linux. I was working for several years at a Windows-centric computer magazine and realized a couple of years ago that many of the articles I was writing were about how to make Windows behave less like Windows. So I installed some Linux distro in a virtual machine on my work PC to play around with it for a bit. And soon after I installed Manjaro on my PC at home. Today, four years later, I’ve installed various Linux distros on all my PCs, and I’m much less annoyed by computer issues on a regular basis.
Same for me. It was more often when I worked in an office for some reason, but I still glance at the watch on my PC and see 13:37 more often than any other times. Always accompanied by me thinking “hehe…1337 hax0r”
thanks to the nonstop giveaways, I have way more games on Epic than I do on Steam
I still have more games on Steam, however, Itch.io has had a couple of insane bundles in the last couple of years, which mean I have way more games and content on Itch than on Steam, which I did not see coming. I still use Steam the most, though, because I’m used to their interface and it works really well on Linux.
Epic has exclusivity on all Ubisoft games? I stopped buying Ubi games years ago, so I guess that’s fine with me. I hope Ubisoft loses money on that deal.
I wonder if GOG is profitable?
Keep fighting the good fight.
And it really is the good fight in this case. I’ve been running Linux on my gaming PC for around four years with very little trouble. Games from Epic and GOG run very well(for me at least) through Heroic Games Launcher. I’ve been using Windows for work on/off the last couple of years, but especially since they “upgraded” to Windows 11, it’s such a relief to come home to Linux.
Meanwhile, Stallone is a scab.
It’s the same in Denmark, I wonder if it’s a Northern European thing? I think Poland is mostly Catholic whereas Denmark is Lutheran protestant, so it’s not just denomination.
