3. Blizzard made 8.71 Billion in 2023. They can afford to pay their developers without relying on public donations.

Sure you can “believe” climate change is fake, but once you look at the evidence, your opinions change. That’s how a normal person processes information.

Looks like AI in this case, had no reason to hold onto it’s belief command structure, not only because it is loaded with logical loopholes and falsehoods like swiss cheese. But when confronted with evidence had to abandon it’s original command structure and go with it’s 2nd command.

Though counterpoint: if someone is willing to spend $3000+ on an apple computer and cool swag. The ads already worked.

However, if the Q/A on your product is so bad, that someone who spends $3000+ would rather install an ad-block to get rid of that experience, maybe the quality assurance on those ads or products aren’t as good as people think.

Ouch, I’d be pissed too if my $70 was still not enough to buy all the character models, let alone that I would have to pay to re-customize my character. They 100% deserve this negative criticism.

I hear it has the same release schedule as Half Life 3, Knights of the old republic remake, and Road Runner vs. Acme.

Everyone is kind of following the same trend now. It doesn’t matter if it is the right or wrong decision. Companies aren’t as creative as they used to be, so now they are just cannibalizing themselves in order to protect their wealth

Though it looks like the video game industry is about to go upside down. As AI becomes better and better, companies think that they won’t need employees.

In fact it is the reverse.

Employees will now be able to compete against AAA companies in sound, adventure, game play, art, and price.

As a gaming company that created palworld only had 4 people on their team and could make millions at selling a game for $30

Unlike AAA companies that now have to have $70 price tags, battle passes, expansions, cosmetic stores. And at the end of the day can’t even put out a decent working product.

Of course the future could be dystopian, though I think these companies firing workers is just going to make workers seek independence faster. And find it in AI.

At the cost of making people write their own successful stories, rather then riding on the popularity of an old franchise to sell it’s brand.

Don’t get me wrong, I would have absolutely played a KoToR with BG3 graphics.

But I would also settle for a new star wars story with BG3 graphics.

I haven’t preordered a game since fallout 76.

I have yet run across a pre-order where I have regretted it either.

Most of the time, you wait 3 months or a year for PlayStation,

• all the bugs are fixed,
• game play has been thoroughly tested by $90 beta tester whales who pay for the privilege.
• It’s on sale
• Wait long enough, even with the DLC
• If it is a good enough game, it will survive the test of time (Elden Ring), and if it doesn’t you didn’t miss anything important.

I’ll keep an ear to the ground.

But I don’t like that $90 preorder logic at all, it’s almost weird it exists.

I try to imagine going to a gamestop and a gaming associate was like, buy that game 3 days later and I’ll give you $20.

Skip the in game pet and mount, that most people forget exists after the expansion, and I’ll make that $40

This effort I don’t believe was targeting people like most of what you would find here.

This ad-block ban, was mostly targeted at people who didn’t know what an ad-blocker was and didn’t want to have to deal with having to get banned.

If Alphabet(google) is actually serious about blocking ad-blockers, I would be surprised. Mostly because Microsoft has had more experience with this, also has billions, and even they quit.

With Elder Scrolls 6 development out of the concept phase and into full swing,

They just started development.

They have also learned some good lessons. However, let us dispel one notion. “Fans” did not cause the announcement 10 years before it’s development.

Looking at the history, Microsoft bought Bethesda in 2021, and Elder scrolls was announced 2018.

Which all things considered, is a three year gap.

Regardless I stand by my conclusion if for the only sake that they would have zero motivation to leak this even if it was just an idea. “Just because of fans.” No CEO thinks like that. At least, none anymore.

It was shareholders.

Gamer can wait until the day a good game comes out, a company needs hype to build it’s brand for stock holders.

But at the time of the announcement, Bethesda wasn’t a publically traded company, they were private, were they not? Which means they weren’t overly beholden to stockholders if I’m not mistaken? I could be totally wrong on that, though.

Wow, that looks amazing, must have taken a long time to carve all of that from one piece.

The understandable difference being that a gun has but one purpose: Kill people.

Whereas everything else I have mentioned, including 3d printers are multi-purpose. Not intended to kill, but to serve multiple roles.

Though, it is a good point that few devices could be cobbled together to make infinite guns so long as you had material. So I am not saying it isn’t a class of it’s own, just where does the logic end with that point?

Is it only legal for a company to print guns? How does a license alone protect people? I don’t think that is something I could answer.

I think some people would say the ability to print a gun is more deadly then a knife.

But I kind of agree with you.

If we start licensing people to own stuff that has the potential to do harm, then eventually you are going to run into a never ending list of household items and laws of natural physics:

• Bleach
• Vinegar
• Salt
• Sugar
• Chlorine
• Gas
• Natural gas
• Methane
• Fertilizers
• Electricity
• Paper
• Fire
• Propane
• Etc.

A 30% increase in performance just might get gamers to switch over to the new operating system.

Hell that is the difference between a better graphics card for some people. It’s like getting a free overclock, just for going outside your comfort zone.

I’ve resigned to put Star Citizen in the same basket as Half Life 3, and a Knights of the Old Republic remake.

Love the concept and commitment to the ideas, but I don’t actually expect to be able to play it.
