If plane go quickly under 10000 feets, the unconscious people will wake-up (normally)
it’s usually -40°c outside when you are in cruise altitude. Open your home window when it’s freezing outside (less than 0°c) can give you an idea why you would have fog in the aircraft until its complete decompression.
The mask can produce “oxygen” for about 15 to 20 min max. You have to be below 10000 feets to be “ok” without mask (it will be like being in a montain at high altitude).
Without putting the mask, you loose conciousness in about 30sec.
Note: this scenario is the worse in term of decompression event. Usually this type of failure would happen during the ascent.

We also put our paper choice in a envelope, operation done from a one person polling booth. People in the voting room make sure everyone, including couples, are not watching or forcing a choice to another.
The vote is always done the Sunday to give the time for the most people to go voting (a lot of enterprises and shops are closed the Sunday). And if you work, your boss can’t block you to leave few hours for voting.

On my country, since the 90’, it’s forbiden to smoke in public place, in the office, etc. They also increased a lot it’s price bia taxes, put labels on the packaging and the amount of smokers reduced a lot since. But hollywood still represent us as smoker ^^

Make sure to click on “show all” button (or equivalent button of your app) once in the messages tab. Once visible, mark them as read so they won’t remain as “active” unread message.
I had this behavior with my app that was considering the messages read (so hidding them by default when going to the messages tab) once i opened it while not marking it read on lemmy side (hence the 7 unread messages displayed)
Took me week to find how to solve that :-)

One of the main skill a developer must have is being able to troubleshoot properly how their code behave.
Break your code in small pieces, check all of them with unitary test (formal or not) to validate their behavior then move to the next step. Never test everything in one shot or you will be overwhelmed by side effect bugs whom will distract you from the real root cause.
Being a programmer is not just coding but also testing and deploying (even locally).
That won’t avoid you being blocked by a silly mistake for hours, everybody did that at some point in their career, but that will reduce your frustration against yourself when you discover why the bug existed.
Do a pause, go walk, change the topic and the next time you look at your code, you will spot the obvious bug :-)

Thiefs don’t carry weapons. If they were arrested with deadly weapons (including knife), that would add decade of prison time for them. It’s being like that since centuries…
Also: they breaks home when we are not home.
So weapons are useless. You are not more safe with them. It’s just a way to escalate a dangerous situation to a deadly situation.

We have 2 types of Police here.
The town police (Police municipale) usually not armed with lethal weapons as they manage local issues (theft, “ligth” violence like neighbors conflicts, noise complaints, familyconflicts… this kind of stuff… very local ). Some can be armed but it’s quite rare and with restrictions. You have a little group of policemen per town. Mine have 3 guys for around 10k people and last time i saw one, he was asking details about a neighborhood dog who was making lots of noise…
And we have the National Police (Police Nationale), who manages bigger threats like murder, dealers, kidnapping, car accidents with fatalities, etc… usually in medium to big towns. All have lethal weapons with them and you saw them for more serious and dangerous topics. Their perimeter are mainly in the big towns.
For towns outside big populated areas, we have the military equivalent of national police: the Gendarmerie (with their best elements in the gign for very serious threats and interventions). Same mission than Nationale Police, they also do prevention topic (car speed controls, alcohol tests…) but their perimeter is all the territory.
