My understanding is that if the food is easily swallow sized, they may unintentionally crunch as they maneuver the food around their mouths to position it to be swallowed, but not out of necessity. If the food is larger, sure they’ll break it up so they can swallow it easier. But by nature, cats aren’t animals that need to chew food for grinding and digestive purposes (like animals that have flat/grinding molars.) As long as they can swallow it, they don’t need to chew.

My cat had the same tooth removal surgery a couple years ago (he was adopted with a mouth full of teeth where most were about to fall out). He was on soft food for about 2-3 weeks before he started picking at his dry food again. Now he gets a portion of wet food every morning, and free feeds dry all day.

What I learned from the vet is that cats use their teeth mainly to rip meat off their prey so they can swallow it, and not really to chew. So if they’re presented with food that’s an appropriate size to swallow, they just swallow it.

Then again, I suspect I somehow may have ended up with the good gene as I have incredibly dry ear wax. On top of that I typically use antiperspirant instead of deodorant anyway, because I dislike feeling wet.

I have my cat’s moist food breakfast set in a timed feeder to open an hour before I wake up, then his “robot” feeder spits dry food at him throughout the day.

Now I only get bitched at for pets 🥰.

I feel you on that. Full disclosure - I’ve hit the point in my life where my kids are grown and self sustaining and I’m finally working a job that actually meets my needs. I wish you the absolute best in finding the right job for you and that hopefully life can suck at least a little less.

I’m also allergic, so I buy stupidly expensive cat food that reduces the enzyme in cats saliva that most people react to. I’m good to cuddle and pet my cat, as long as I can avoid scratches, I’m good.

Cook county tried it in Illinois a few years back, and it really made no sense.

It didn’t apply to juices (even though juices are loaded with sugar) and it taxed sugar free sodas the same as their sugar sweetened versions. They charged 1 cent per ounce for the tax. It was repealed 4 months after initiating it.

I’d think it would depend on the frequency of interactions. Leg and foot protection would add weight, so unless the dwarves were expected they might not want to bear the extra burden.

On that note, Lord of the Rings extended editions have been showing in theaters the last couple weekends. I kept thinking how prior to battles the fighters were all geared up and marched for days (or longer) and showed up throwing themselves straight into battle. Here I am not functioning as my soft ass finishes my coffee in bed, trying to negotiate when I need to actually start getting ready for work.

Not sure of the ages of your children, but as a 52yo who grew up in the States, I averaged 2-3 hours of homework a night in grade school. They’d tell us “oh, it’s only about 15-20 minutes per class” which doesn’t sound terrible, except that it was more like 20-30 minutes of work x 4-6 classes. By 7th grade I burned out and realized that the world didn’t end if I started skipping homework, and my test grades remained about the same. I just had to live with the stifling anxiety over getting in trouble for not getting my homework done.

Thankfully by the time my kids came along schools started pulling back on the volumes of unnecessary homework. I also never pressured them to get every assignment done, but instead asked them if they understood what they were doing. As adults having completed further educational programs, they did just fine. I’m glad that as time goes on, kids are getting more of a chance to be kids.

As close as you can get to “eat soon”. It’ll have a decent air pocket developed and the membrane adhering to the shell will be weaker.

About a year and a half ago I spent around $1100 on extensive dental work for my adopted cat. I told him that was his big expense, please don’t put me in the position to make a hard decision again in the future because I can’t keep doing that. Little fucker is worth it though.

Similarly, I have an iPhone. It was provided by my employer for work purposes. It’s about as enjoyable as having a small stone in my shoe that can’t be removed. Oh, and the other shoe is half a size too small.

My Pixel is so much easier and makes more sense. I carry both when working and use the iPhone only when absolutely necessary.
