Yah. I, too, have had reservations, as it looks like every other Mr. beast type youtuber. But, I think we have to come to grips with the fact that it is driven by capitalism and YouTube’s algorithm.

I think it was Linus Tech Tips that had a video explicitly explaining the A-B methods that are used to serve a thumbnail and how the annoying youtuber face ones tended to get more traffic and more new viewers.

Thankfully, he does seem to be interested in education as well as earning money recording himself doing ridiculous things.

While it is not my cup of tea, my youngest loves it and has brought up engineering and physics concepts from it in appropriate situations, so I am not complaining.

In my case: stop halfway because you opened a drawer and found it needed fixing, and that is how I bought a metal lathe and didn’t clean the house for 3 months as I learned to turn my own knobs…. Then didn’t touch it for a year.

We are seeing it in healthcare for doing some great photo or record screening. I am sure it may put some folks out of a job, but it will save lives as well.

Bingo. If I had all my family’s expenses paid, I’d do my job for 3-4 days without pay. Maybe not as long, but I like my work.

That is not the fault of the occupation, but the system we are doing it in. People will typically want to work at SOMEthing. The system we have has perverted that drive toward what you describe.
