Worried I’m getting a bit too paranoid, but…
Why backdoor the messaging apps when you can just monitor the entire OS?

I haven’t tried the alpha. Maybe I’ll spin up a VM later.
Its just feeling a little old. Missing out on newer features and more modern looking ui. Nothing critical, just nice to have.

Thinking about making the move from Pop!_OS. Pop has been good, and it’s not like I need to be on the latest thing, but it’s still on Gnome 42 I think. Pop is starting to feel a bit long in the tooth.
Came here to comment on how smokers seem to congregate specifically around doors to public buildings (businesses, hotels, restaurants, ect) despite having had legislation for years that requires them to be anywhere from 5-10 metres from any inlet to a building (air vent, hvac, door, window, etc)
I’ve been pretty happy with my Proton mail/simple login combo (simple login was bought by proton not that long ago).
In regards to your comments elsewhere in this thread, it can be exhausting at times trying to be perfect in regards to privacy. Just take it one day at a time and even one decision at at time. Just because you gave away info before doesn’t mean that it’s pointless to take one little piece back.
I guess it’s not his day for the brain cell…

Personally I’d say if you’re coming from a Mac, go Pop!_OS. If you’re coming from Windows, go Linux mint. Both have the option to run from a USB to test before installing.
You star wars fans certainly are a contentious bunch.
WHAT?!
I’ve been running Pop!_OS for a few years now on my laptop and about a year on my gaming PC. I’ve been very happy with it. Even microsoft Flight Simulator works perfectly. I’ve built a win 10 VM in virtual box for the few pieces of software I can’t get going on Linux (old garmin GPS software and some ham radio programming software).
game developers and publishers are hesitant to enable Linux compatibility,
And I am hesitant to spend money on their games.
Never knew that was Oaisis. Great movie.

KDE bigscreen looks perfect for me. I know I have heard of it before but I will need to look a bit more in depth at it.
All I want is Roku, but FOSS, without the ads and tracking.
I know very little about ipv6, but CGNAT is Carrier Grade Network Address Translation.
NAT (Network Address Translation) is how your home router takes your one public IP address and is able to simultaneously allow your phone, your PlayStation, and your smart fridge use the internet.
CGNAT is basically the same thing expect on a much larger scale and controlled by you ISP.
I assume you are referring to End to End Encrypted (E2EE) messaging apps here. I’m no programmer/developer/software engineer and I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know a ton about how most apps work on the backend. That being said, my understanding is that E2EE apps decrypt whatever is being transmitted to them when they get to your device (assuming phone here) (of course it would decrypt it, otherwise how would you make sense of the information?). Once the data is on your phone, it is decrypted. From what I understand, sandboxing apps is not all that robust on Android (at least on “mainstream” versions)
Therefore, the data that was Encrypted from End to End was decrypted at the End and therefore accessible by other applications and processes on your phone. Unless Android sandboxing has improved greatly in the last few weeks.
