Freetube.
Once they added quick playlist functionality earlier this year, it was over for YouTube for me.
At this point it has everything I need and could only use small QoL improvements to be absolutely perfect for me.
Solo indie dev mashup of Risk of Rain, Helldivers, Vermintide, etc with its own soul and style of knights with guns. Dev is very active in the discord and takes feedback and actively plays with the small community the game has garnered.
I played the demo on a whim during a next fest expecting a janky joke of a game to laugh at but a decent and fun game caught me by surprise. It’s been improved and updated quite a bit since then.
unless that vendetta is so strong he’s policing your purchases and won’t play with you, crossplay is already confirmed.
Came to say golden souls as well. Just started recently and it’s impressive and fun as hell. There is also a 2 released and recently announced working on 3 I believe.
Or freetube, where it’s built in. Just gotta turn it on in settings.
It’s my red line that I will not cross. I’ve given in to some practices I hated at one point. But I will absolutely never pay for the internet twice.
Think you meant this for someone else. I see lack of suggestion algos as a good thing.
Excellent, thanks for the heads up. Can’t wait to ditch the site.
After hearing about Freetube, I finally set it up and was all on board, got it configured and then was deflated to see it apparently has no queue function? I use that feature on YouTube so much that I just had to stop using it pretty much immediately.
If I somehow overlooked that or it comes in a later development stage, I’d happily move to it exclusively.
I’m not normally into fantasy at all and I was gripped by Pyre’s story and characters. It’s a real testament to Supergiant’s writing abilities that I’d kill to see it picked up for a series by someone and it’s the game of theirs I most consider replaying just to spend time in the world again.
Nothing will kill my enjoyment of a show faster than the seemingly inevitable and obligatory musical episode. I pray it just stops at one since that’s probably my only hope.
You can mod risk of rain for many more than 4 players.
Surprised to see wisecrack is still a thing after their enshittification. Good for them.
Not gonna lie, I’m a little concerned after this patch. I don’t think it’s entirely unfair to make comparisons to the first game seeing as it’s a sequel (up to you to agree/disagree). But with this patch especially, the philosophy differences between the two are becoming more apparent.
In 1, there was almost no primary that was useless altogether. Certainly no support or AT that was useless. And even at the high levels the armor spam wasn’t as ridiculous and we had more reliable tools to deal with it.
If they want things to be harder, why did they change the reinforce system to be objectively easier? That system change is my single biggest 1>2 gripe.
This after seeing one of the devs back this balance patch by constantly (and imo not so professionally, but I’m a boomer like that I guess) on Discord chide people not happy about the changes to “just go play an idle game” if they want an easy power fantasy cake walk.
Like I said, major concerns for me. The response to this will tell the tale. I never could get into DRG primarily because they seemed to prioritize difficulty balancing way over having fun in combat. Same thing with Deadlink which should have been a fave of mine. I really hope to not see HD2 go that route when I’ve touted HD1 as one of my faves and a contender for best coop game of all time for years now.
I was bully on it from the demo. But it’s gotten old pretty fast. It has an item saturation problem and lack of deck forging tools, I think. When I learned the decks you unlock aren’t anything crazy or fun, just regular decks with new start conditions, I lost a lot of steam. Not leaving it behind, but my drive to play it isn’t as high.
Pretty sure I saw your comment in a Reddit thread about this. You’re doing good work. Stay strong, legend.
Same here. I got lucky and discovered the Keto diet pretty much right before it took off into being the latest fad. So I got the benefit of missing all the “lose 100lbs in 10 minutes” nonsense and the commodified aspect of everyone selling you something.
And it worked fantastically and lead to complete lifestyle changes that have persisted and made a healthier me.
I still recommend it to people but always give heavy caveats to stay away from the fad part and go with the basics.
Because of the fantasy novels I have to recommend Pyre. I’d recommend all Supergiant games to anyone, but Pyre is a special work of art with fantastic writing and unique gameplay. If he really likes fantasy, he should love it because I don’t at all but I did. It’s presented in visual novel style with action “combat” segments.
