In the meantime, highly encourage folks to checkout grim dawn. Still gets updates even though it released years ago. Game worthy of buying to support these types of devs.
Man hopefully they just mercilessly rake companies that don’t support Linux because of kernel level anticheat over the fires as well. We need more advocacy in this space I think (and honestly I’d like it if kernel level anticheat was banned from steam on account of security).
I’ll check this out, thanks! I really just need to figure out how to build in the driver level stuff for my chipset. Even this I think just pulls from lm-sensors which needs the low level drivers to populate the appropriate files to read from.
HWMonitor / cpuID / cpuz. One of the frustrating things is not having good driver level support for certain mbs with system monitoring utilities, so you can’t see fans and some cpu stats (like per ccd temps etc on Ryzen processors). Specifically things like it87 boards

Yeah, tandem oleds are pretty rad. And worst case you just hook the mbp to an external display. I shall acquiesce to oled.
I really don’t think it needs oled or thinner. Oled risks burn in (I say as I have an oled desktop monitor without burn in, but I worry about it) — though perhaps Apple can figure that out (micro led would be great though). As for thinner, it’s pretty dang thin already. I’d rather more battery in the 14” and be a little thicker, honestly.

Anybody know of a program that would let me remap the keys on the razr naga? I’ve been using this to deal with the rgb, but would really like to edit the mouse button mappings (not averse to running a virtual machine to do it, if it’s one off, or maybe in bottles if that works).
Is there any interest in getting local models to run using this? I’d rather not use Gemini, and then all the data can reside locally (and not require a login).

This seems cool. I like to run my steam set up in a flatpak (in part because I don’t really like 32 bit binaries cluttering up my main paths) so I’ll wait h til they release it there. Or perhaps I’ll get involved and see if I can’t package this up myself.
How big is this controller? I have wide palms but shortish fingers. From palm to tip of middle fingers like 7.5”, which is low side of male hands, but 4” wide palm which is above average. Makes finding ergonomic controllers difficult. I can reach the middle of controllers without too much difficulty, but reaching lengthwise (eg the shoulder buttons) can be problematic (perhaps why I like the ps4 controller — it’s wide but squat; it just lacks usability with no back buttons, and it only pairs to a single device at a time). I guess a smaller Xbox style controller would work okay for me — is Wolverine worth a try you think?
I’m personally looking for a Hall effect joystick, ps5 style layout, wireless capable, plays nice with Linux game controller. Seems like I’ve seen flydigi as a potential option, and maybe some 8bitdo ones. Maybe scuf?
One major issue I’ve had is my ps4 controller doesn’t have multipoint, meaning it will only Bluetooth pair to a single device at a time. Wanna use it on your phone? Gotta pair it. Wanna use it again on your pc — yep, gotta pair it again. Reaaaaallly annoying.
We need to start poisoning this data. I don’t think the solution is to cut the wires, I think it’s to send bogus data. Just make it so that no matter how I drive, the data is always overwritten that I traveled 5 miles at 30mph average with no hard stops and no hard accelerations. I only ever make that trip. Wanna base my insurance off that? Go for it.
Anyways I lack the technical ability to do this, but wonder if some enterprising person could hack the obd to constantly overwrite the data here.
Again I want to poison this data. It should be illegal, but it’s not. Companies will charge me more if I block it. So the solution is data poisoning imo.
Incidentally we need to be poisoning ALL data brokers and collectors for these types of things.

Eh, I’d personally just get a more ergonomic vertical mouse, wired if you need the absolute lowest latency. Much easier to come by and they’re cheap. I used an evoluent I think it was wireless mouse for DotA2 when I played it ranked years ago, and I found it more than capable to climb the ranks with it. I also have a Logitech gaming mouse, for comparison.
Some vertical mice can easily be found on Amazon or anywhere really. Logitech makes one (it’s okay) and a few others as well.
Conversely, if just looking for more ergonomics, you could try a hyperlight mouse with a good gliding wrist wrest.
I don’t have NMS nor a 7900 XTX, but I guess first thing I’d do is install hwinfo and run it in the background to make sure nothing is overheating. As far as I know, NMS is not a cpu intensive game, so I don’t think the processor is the culprit.
I guess resizable bar could be a problem (in that the 8700k doesn’t support it). I don’t know that it would make a huge difference but it is one issue (only ~10% uplift I would wager).
I guess lastly maybe something with your ssd? I can’t recall if the 960 pro had the firmware overheating bug or whatever or if it was a different model.
I did see one video on YouTube benchmarking 3440x1440 NMS on ultra at 120+ fps, so there’s definitely something going on. It could be the proton version or something as well. If I have some time I’ll look into that, but hopefully hwinfo or any monitoring of your choice can at least get you to rule out a thermal throttle scenario.
You can, of course, feel free to show us how you’d implement this in python. It’s fine to say you would do it differently, but don’t stop there, show how/what you would do differently. Add to the discussion, like the person you were replying to did, don’t detract.
