Ich finde es faszinierend wie ich heutzutage Werbung tatsächlich quasi nur noch über Maimais oder Gespräche mit Freundys mitbekomme. OK, Plakatwerbung erreicht mich noch. Und alle Jubeljahre sehe ich auch was auf YT DR bei jemandem ohne Adblocker Werbeklotzer. Aber selbst wenn ich meine Mutter besuche, wo der Fernseher läuft, ist das eigentlich immer ÖR und wenn da mal Werbung läuft, schaltet sie um oder mindestens lautlos.

Stimmt, in der Hinsicht war tatsächlich die FDP deutlich relevanter.

Die CDU hatte schon auch ihren Anteil dran getragen, Altnazis eine Karriere zu ermöglichen, und hat damals dann ja auch gerade im Rahmen der 68er genug Kritik geerntet, aber in Retrospektive ist Nachfolgerpartei tatsächlich nicht richtig. Aber “in jeglicher Hinsicht” - auch wenn im Streit verständlich - läuft in meinen Augen dann Gefahr den Aspekt wiederum zu unterbewerten.

Die AFD hatte sich in jüngerer Geschichte aber schon gut am Werteverfall am rechten Rand der CxU aufgebaut, und beeinflusst nun mehr und mehr selbst die Partei. Es fällt ja auch global auf, dass es immer weniger quasi “Wertekonservative” zu geben scheint, und immer mehr nihilistisches “Werte sind nur Mittel zum Zweck und zur Kontrolle” - Denken, mit dem guten “Werte für meine Feinde und nützliche Idioten, Grenzüberschreitung für mich und Freunde”.

Hatte ich auch hin-und-her gehadert, es zuerst nur in !Geschichte@feddit.org gepostet, und dann am Ende überlegt, dass es ja schon etwas Bezug hat für D als Kernland im kalten Krieg und A und CH zumindest als Teil von Europa, und DACH ist Sammelbecken - und wenn nichts sonst macht es durch die “cross-posted to:” Anzeige im lemmy-ui vielleicht zumindest etwas Bewusstsein für die existenz von /c/Geschichte@feddit.org aufmerksam.

Aber wenn es entfernt wird, kann ich das auch gut verstehen.

Für den Carlsen-Verlag mit Sitz in Hamburg, der die Kinderbuchreihe herausgibt, ist Conni deshalb sehr wertvoll. Auch, weil einfach jeder die Figur des kleinen Mädchens im Ringelshirt kennt.

Ich muss hier ehrlich sein: Ich hätte die Figur und die Marke vermutlich nicht ohne die Memes gekannt - ansonsten höchstens als eine “ah, ja, hab ich irgendwo mal von gehört, glaub ich zumindest”-Sache.

Aus meiner eigenen Erfahrung als unerträglich kantiger Teenager vor mittlerweile vielen Jahren, denke ich für einige wird ja genau diese Grenzüberschreitung der Spaß an den Memes sein - und die Sorte Mensch wird sich vermutlich auch eher angespornt von Gegenwind fühlen. Aber jetzt draufblickend, ja, mehr als verständlich, dass man das zumindest wo so was zu öffentlich wird auch angehen können will.

That is a possible explanation, although I think it was weirder than that, because I remember checking some “obvious” settings like that afterwards. I also re-encoded the file with VLC media player out of curiosity, where it should have just re-encoded whatever audio track it had, without adjusting it to a specific output device, and the resulting file then also had the same issue when played in SMPLayer (whereas the original worked in SMPlayer).

I might still have both files laying around on my NAS, but I myself at least don’t really have the energy right now to go into a rabbit hole again years after the fact, and sharing them would be non-trivial.

So, I once watched The Lighthouse together with my then girlfriend remotely, being in a long distance relationship at the time. We used the same file, started at the same time and were in chat together.

The audio codec of this (of course 100% legal) file for some reason did not work with my VLC player properly. There were no voices. But it also wasn’t just complete silence, some music and subtle, surreal sound effects came through. None of this was happening for my ex, btw, even though we had the same file.

Talking about the movie in chat and afterwards was fascinating, I only then realised it was, in fact, not a masterful, purposeful, stylistic choice: A major production not just in black and white, but as a silent movie. I also was able to get the essential things that happened and the important plot points, so that is also another point very much in favour of the film.

Ja, das ist auch nicht weiter verwunderlich - Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund machen aus strukturellen Gründen einen großen Anteil im Niedriglohnsektor aus, wo oft aufgestockt werden muss - und gerade Namen aus dem orthodox-slawischen Bereich sind zB hier stark repräsentiert - nicht verwunderlich, bei den strukturellen Problemen für eine gerade erst vor kurzem als große Gruppe hierher geflohene.

Eine Überrepresentation sagt halt an sich wenig aus ohne weitere Analyse, und Bürgergeld empfangen bedeutet nicht gleich nicht arbeiten. (Und zusätzlich, weil ich das zu oft vergessen sehe: Nicht arbeiten bedeutet auch nicht automatisch, nichts zur Gemeinschaft beitragen, z.B. durch anderweitiges Engagement sowohl offiziell in Vereinen und co, als auch inoffiziell, in Freundschaften, Familien, Nachbarschaften, etc.)

Wie ist unsere Demokratie nur mit Merz & Co so vor die Hunde gegangen?

Das Potential steckte schon immer im System. Mit der AfD hat das schon lange als latent rechtsextrem erfasste Drittel der Bevölkerung eine Organisationsplattform bekommen, mit “Hauptsache Engagement und Clicks”-Struktur der Profitbenötigenden Medien hat sich das wahrgenommene Weltbild verschoben und selbst Menschen mit anderem Weltbild werden ausgepowert und ermüdet, mit stärkerer Kapitalkonsolidierung sind Abstiegsängste im Mittelstand größer und auch realer geworden, zugleich haben auch die Ärmsten immer weniger Geld zu Verfügung - bzw das Geld alleine erfüllt auch weniger die Bedürfnisse, und mit Menschen wie Musk, russischen Oligarchen, und auch einigen unserer hausgemachten reichen “Förderer” von entsprechenden Medien und Gruppen mischen auch einflussreiche Einzelinteressen vermehrt mit.

Man sollte auch nie vergessen, dass so ein Verfall auch immer sehr schleichend und mit Absurditäten einher geht. Rom hatte sich etwa noch viele Generationen nach Ende der Machtstellung des Senats als “Republik” verstanden. Ich sehe schon als eine (nicht die einzige) mögliche Zukunftsversion, eine Welt in der de-fakto faschistische Regimes im Westen sich als “Verteidiger von Demokratie und Menschenrecht” und als “Immerhin sind wir eine Demokratie” präsentieren. Ich zumindest sehe schon ein Aufweichen von wirklich demokratischen und Menschenrechts-garantierenden Strukturen, während der Kampfbegriff “Demokratie” in meiner Empfindung als Symbol immer mehr verwendet wird.

Das ist sicher auch interessant für !lemmylz@discuss.tchncs.de und !eltern@feddit.org - vor allem ja nicht nur eine schnelle Idee sondern schon ausgearbeitet!

Yeah, I can’t argue with numbers - although when I searched for more of those numbers (because there was no report linked in the article), I am at least somewhat sceptical as of now. Mostly because all the outlets I have seen report on it are… well, not really neutral. This site, too, has a weird amount of AI images and praise of Trump (e.g. like in this article).

So, I had a bit of a look around, and as expected - if only one side reports something, there is usually at least something missing:

So - seems like there is at least some cherry-picking and reporting early projections as fully manifested facts going on here, but the recovery itself is still good news for the people actually living there, of course. I’d like to wait for more fully-fledged analysis reported by different outlets than this. How likely is this to be sustainable? How many additional factors will be at play? Even if Milei’s reforms turn out to be a miracle of a new way to “do austerity right” - I will only believe that if there is better analysis than this, because Libertarian-adjacent outlets praising this, sometimes with misrepresenting data, like, e.g. this graph I came across:

Those kind of reporting sadly does not spark confidence for me.

Also, one can lead to the other. If you catch the right fish with a scam, they may just unwittingly give you a way in to an institution. Only the latter would make the news, though.

That’s actually addressed in this video - he interviews the main maintainer in the last segment. The issue was Fedora announcing they want to retract support for 32 bit libraries eventually, and that sparking fear in the community, because some apps like the Steam client would be affected. As it looks as per the interview, to quote the maintainer: “Bazzite is not going anywhere”. The Fedora maintainers took comments to heart (in fact, their announcement was to get feedback from the community), and critical libraries for certain applications will remain maintained, until apps like Steam and OBS and such can switch to 64-bit architectures.

But don’t feel bad for thinking otherwise - in the interview, the Bazzite maintainer laments how many outlets used the announcement to fearmonger, so that was a widespread sentiment. Sensationalism, anxiety and outrage tactics to get clicks, basically.
