France has banned Israeli companies from participating in this year’s annual Eurosatory arms and defence industry exhibition in Villepinte near Paris next month, the event’s organisers and the French Defence Ministry said on Friday, Reuters reports.

“Following a decision by government authorities, there will not be an Israeli stand at the Eurosatory 2024 salon,” a spokesperson for the organisers said via email.

The Defence Ministry told Reuters that: “Conditions are no longer met to host Israeli companies at the show at a time when the President is calling for Israel to cease operations in Rafah.”

This is humorous to me because they’re banning Isreal from a “War” convention for doing the thing that almost always comes with war, genocide, and what Israel argues it is doing, war.

It’s more complicated than that I know, but something about this is making me laugh.

Depends, the way israel targets civilians this blatantly and annexes their land is fairly unique. Putting 2 million people in a concentration camp and then bombing it to rubble isn’t that conventional.

The rest of us are looking to you guys for how we should handle the rise of fascists and out of touch governments. Think you guys will be dusting off the old guillotine again anytime soon?

The rise of fascism in France does come from the actual far right, it’s been a gradual change of policies and the implementation of authoritarian measures by the very government who keeps saying “vote for us to save democracy from the fascists”. Macrons has deliberately betrayed the left wing voters, repressed protesters, and kept moving further and further right… [1] [2] [3] [4]

So yeah I don’t know what advice to give, be watchful and attentive of actions, not promises 🤷

The upcoming European elections are seeing a massive win for the French far right, people are blinded by their fake anti Macron stance (when both of them are voting for each others policies at the parliament), it’s quite depressing
