Not big into racing games, but FH6 is making me interested. Last racing game I really got into was burnout paradise on the PS3 I think. I don’t care about online at all, this would pretty much be solo story play, and exploring Tokyo.

I just don’t know much about forza, the different editions, if I’d like the controls. Is horizon more like burnout or NFS, or more sim racing?

I played 3-6 hours when I had FH5 on GamePass, and it was a LOT of fun. I personally did not find it very engaging, though, so I didn’t stick with it

I think this is probably my main concern. I’ll get it, enjoy it for a few hours and get bored. Hopefully the story or progression is engaging enough to keep my interest. Because just driving around I know would get boring fairly quickly.

I don’t think FH5 had a story. Well, the story is, Forza Horizon is a racing celebration (held annually?) and you’re doing races and other activities to entertain the locals.

I think it’s a matter of whether or not you like the driving.

Mario Kart doesn’t have a story either, and I think it’s the most successful racing franchise? Seems like it would be. Certainly the oldest still around, going back to the Super NES.

The devs have promised that the story and progression will be getting a change from previous entries. The past few have gotten some flack for just throwing all the currency and all the cars at you without much challenge to it. Recent editions are bordering on being a car-collector-simulator as much as a racing game.

Personally, I’ve loved them all for just messing around and driving hundreds of different cars, but a bit of change in formula would be welcome, if they can pull it off.

Tbh that’s what I like about them
