Hey, friend, no worries. What you’ll find out here is that Lemmy is much much more extreme in their viewpoints. Lemmy seems to attract people who are inclined to be more obsessive on certain things, than the general public. So on here, you’ll notice that when someone gets angry at someone, they do NOT let it drop.

Many will follow ya around and just talk shit about you forever if you disagreed with them in the past.

So my fanclub likes to jump in a lot of newbie posts and say, “block UniversalMonk first!!” Not because it’s good advice, but because they don’t like me. There are more posts about me, than posts by me. lolololol

But if ya look at my post history, I pretty much just stick to the little communities I manage. And you won’t find anything controversial. Just some extreme reactions to it. Ask the angry people to be specific about why they are mad at me, and they never have an answer except that they bizarrely think I am pro-Trump, even tho I didn’t vote for him and the vast majority of my articles I post are anti-Trump. LMAO

To be honest, I’m like you and not that into politics. One of the more disappointing things about Lemmy for me is how many people revert to politics every single thread and post. It’s annoying. I think that Lemmy having being so obsessed about political talk will actually doom it. Lemmy is never gonna be popular.

Too much politics. Too much anger. Too much obsessive stalker-types.

I try to do my part to help Lemmy grow, but even when I post something non-political, like about science, or education or something, people like to jump in and say variations of “Fuck you! You ruined the US!” lolol As if the 100 people who post regularly on Lemmy can change anything about society. lololol

I still love the idea of non-centralized stuff, the federation, etc. But the crowd on Lemmy is to obsessive-compulsive to allow it to grow.

You and me are actually more alike, than we are different. Let me know how things turn out for you and if you can find enough non-political content to keep ya here.
