It is an oversimplification, but it doesn’t attempt to quantify what cannot be quantified. Trying to compare qualitative differences on a quantifiable graph is already far more complicated than simply comparing ideologies and positions directly to each other, alongside the fact that the idea that authority and liberty are counterposed being inherently wrong.
