I agree with ‘adopt don’t shop’ because I respect the animals, and it feels pretty disrespectful to call a living creature ‘used.’
I’m conflicted. On one hand, you are absolutely correct that ‘used’ is disrespectful.
On the other hand, I call my cats worse things all the time.
That’s actually a pretty valid point.
When I’m doing mental roll call (to make sure I’ve not trapped one somewhere), i call them
- cat 1
- cat 2
- dog 1
- cat 3
- dog 2
