Mr. Mertle, the eccentric recluse in town, needs a band of brave adventurers to help him deal with a problem. Goblins have taken up residence around the crumbling remains of an ancient fighting pit behind his home, and their presence is becoming increasingly disruptive. But what seems like a simple pest control job quickly turns into something far more dangerous - and more bizarre.
As the adventurers arrive, they discover the goblins are not what they seem. Instead of mindless marauders, these goblins are on a quest of their own: to retrieve a cherished artifact that lies hidden somewhere in Mr. Mertle’s walled-off gardens without falling victim to the mysterious and dangerous creature that lives there.
