Well for my phone I used RethinkDNS before I rooted it again. After rooting I use AdAway.

You can also use something like RethinkDNS for a customized DNS ad blocking. I use AdAway on my phone.

I’ve been using systemwide adblock on all my electronics for years now so I forget that in app ads are a thing. But yeah, I see your point. They do offer a one time purchase to remove ads.

The fact that it has GPU graph already makes it better than other tools.

Try something like Linux Mint with the Xfce edition. Might be able to lower the RAM a bit more.
