Yeah, and does bluegrass count as country? Because some people can absolutely shred on the banjo

IIRC it was that anything like ray bans were identical to cheap UV blockers, but there’s a tier at about a hundred bucks (or maybe 150) that use a different method for applying the coating to the lens so that it lasts longer. I think it was in the buy it for life sub bc I get the cheap ones and the lenses don’t last very long for me (as in they get scuffed up despite the fact that I put them back in the case every time I wear them).
I’ll see if I can find the thread when I have time later

Common Core everything in general is pretty solid. You know how people like to complain about critical thinking not being taught in schools? Well CC English classes at the end of HS are all goals like finding textual evidence to support an opinion, or distinguishing between stated text and actual meaning (vis a vis satire, irony, etc).
The real problem is underfunded schools not having the resources to address student needs, not the teaching aims themselves. Imagine if every classroom maxed out at 15 students, just for one simple thing we could do to start fixing shit.
Here are CC standards for 11-12 grade reading and writing

5·18 天前I dunno the series and the picture quality isn’t great, but it looks like there are duplicates of the same book several times in there. As far as I could see from the wiki page, there are 64 books listed and only one (The End of Death) has the same title for a 3 volume series. Yet in the picture there are multiple copies of First Heretic, Outcast Dead, Tales of Heresy, etc.

You should check into the doom modding community. I don’t tend to play many rpg style wads but I know they’re out there. Some use the doom engine but the game is pretty much unrecognizable as doom (called total conversion wads). Here’s one article with a list.
One called Hedon got an official release and is on steam etc now
They also make some hexen levels (I saw Wrath of Cronos being recommended).

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What slang term did you learn as a kid that is no longer in use?
2·1 个月前Interesting, I haven’t heard it since the 90s. Do you pronounce it with an s or z? We said s, even though the normal verb form (eg “the governor housed 10000 homeless people with the latest bill”) is said with a z for me.

You don’t hear bleed used as a transitive verb (with an object) as much anymore with actual blood since they stopped using leeches in medicine, but it’s still commonly used for other situations. You can bleed fluid from a hydraulic line, for example.
